Job Description

Operate stand up forklifts and reach trucks in a modern distribution environment to move, pick, and stage corrugated products safely and accurately. Support daily warehouse operations by loading and unloading trucks, performing inventory tasks, and maintaining equipment to ensure efficient and timely distribution of goods.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a stand up forklift and reach truck to move corrugated products throughout the facility.
  • Pick product from double-deep racks with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Use a cherry picker to access and retrieve products stored at various rack heights.
  • Load and unload trucks while following safety and quality standards.
  • Perform cycle counting and verify inventory to maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Review product loads for accuracy and completeness to ensure timely and correct deliveries.
  • Perform routine maintenance on forklifts and auxiliary equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and fueling.
  • Weigh materials or products and record weight and other production data on tags, labels, or in systems as required.
  • Signal and communicate with other workers to coordinate discharging, dumping, or leveling of materials.
  • Use RF scanners to pick, pack, and process orders according to work instructions.
  • Assist with general labor tasks such as packing, unloading, and packaging as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures and warehouse guidelines to maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production and shipping goals.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience operating a stand up reach forklift.
  • Proficiency operating stand up forklifts and reach trucks in a warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Experience with order picking and handling products stored in double-deep racks.
  • Ability to perform cycle counting and verify inventory accurately.
  • Experience with material handling, including loading and unloading trucks.
  • Ability to use RF scanners for order picking, packing, and inventory tasks.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to coordinate with team members and follow instructions.
  • High attention to detail to ensure accurate picking, loading, and documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic problem-solving skills to address issues related to inventory, equipment, and workflow.
  • Understanding of raw materials, production processes, and quality control principles.
  • Knowledge of techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain in-house forklift certification based on prior experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience with cherry pickers for high-level picking is beneficial.
  • history in general warehouse labor, including packing, unloading, and packaging tasks.
  • Familiarity with inventory control practices and documentation of production data.
  • Comfort working with corrugated products and similar materials.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines consistently.
  • Openness to learning and growing into lead or supervisory roles over time.
  • Formal forklift certification is not required; candidates with at least 6 months of stand up reach forklift experience will receive in-house certification.

Work Environment

Work in a brand-new, well-lit, and very clean facility designed for efficient and safe warehouse operations. The environment includes modern equipment such as stand up forklifts, reach trucks, cherry pickers, and RF scanners. This is a 2nd shift position with hours from 3:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Steel-toe shoes are required as part of the safety-focused dress code. The facility emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and teamwork to maintain a productive and comfortable workplace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lockport, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.25 - $20.25/hr.
