Job Description

This role combines sit-down forklift operation with general warehouse and dock work in a clean facility. You efficiently handle, sort, load, and unload freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, and manual methods while following strict safety procedures. The position typically runs Monday through Friday with a 7:00 a.m. or 8:00 a.m. start and a 4:00 p.m. end time, with overtime available based on freight volumes.

Responsibilities

• Operate a sit-down forklift safely and efficiently to move, load, and unload palletized and non-palletized freight.
• Perform general warehouse and dockworker duties, including shipping, receiving, and material handling.
• Sort, handle, load, and unload freight using motorized and manual equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and by hand as needed.
• Climb in and out of trailers safely to load and secure freight.
• Lift freight and other items of various shapes, sizes, and weights, including up to 50 pounds frequently and more than 75 pounds occasionally.
• Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies such as pallets, straps, and rope.
• Walk and stand safely for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate controlled and may be slippery.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports accurately and on time.
• Communicate frequently and professionally with service center and warehouse personnel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Work safely in adverse weather conditions when required.
• Maintain prompt, reliable daily attendance at the assigned work location.
• Adapt to varying freight volumes, which may require working different shifts, including days and evenings.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience operating a sit-down forklift in a warehouse or dock environment.
• Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving processes.
• Strong material handling skills, including loading, unloading, and staging freight.
• Ability to operate pallet jacks and other basic warehouse equipment safely.
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and more than 75 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to work on your feet for extended periods, walking and standing on a loading dock surface.
• Comfort working in non-climate-controlled areas and in adverse weather conditions.
• Strong attention to safety and adherence to company safety policies.
• Ability to complete basic documentation and reports accurately.
• Reliability in maintaining consistent, on-time daily attendance.
• Willingness and ability to work a variety of shifts, including days and evenings, based on freight volumes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a dockworker, warehouse associate, or material handler role.
• Experience with order picking and staging freight for shipment.
• Familiarity with securing freight using pallets, straps, and rope.

Work Environment

You work in a clean warehouse and dock facility that operates at a fast pace and is focused on meeting deadlines. The role involves regular use of sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, and other standard warehouse equipment. You spend most of the day on your feet, walking and standing on a loading dock surface that is not climate controlled and may be slippery, and you may work in adverse weather conditions when handling freight at the dock or trailers. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, starting at 7:00 a.m. or 8:00 a.m. and finishing around 4:00 p.m., with overtime available depending on freight volumes. The environment is team-oriented, with frequent interaction with service center and warehouse personnel, and a focus on safety and consistent attendance.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ruffs Dale, PA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
