In this role, you will help protect and maintain the forest resources and facilities of the Tiadaghton State Forest as part of the Rauchtown Maintenance Division. Your work will support the upkeep of roads, trails, bridges, buildings, and boundary lines, while also contributing to forest fire prevention and suppression efforts.

Key responsibilities include:

Assisting with the maintenance of state forest facilities, including cleaning culverts and cutting trees and brush along roads, trails, bridges, and buildings
Performing construction and maintenance tasks using the appropriate tools, equipment, and safety practices
Maintaining state forest boundary lines and signage by installing posts and markers, repainting marked trees, and clearing vegetation
Supporting forest fire suppression efforts by removing vegetation, patrolling fire lines, and operating portable pumps

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 through November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment:

This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
