Job Title: Construction Foreman
Job Description

The Construction Foreman leads and coordinates on-site construction activities, ensuring projects progress safely, efficiently, and according to plans and quality standards. This role oversees crews in the field, manages resources and schedules, and serves as a key point of communication between the site and project leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, manage, and coordinate construction crews on-site to ensure efficient and safe execution of work.
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project plans to guide construction processes and daily tasks.
  • Assign tasks to crew members, monitor progress, and ensure work is completed on time and in line with quality standards.
  • Inspect completed work to verify compliance with safety regulations, company standards, and project requirements.
  • Manage on-site resources, including materials, tools, and equipment, to ensure they are used efficiently and effectively.
  • Enforce safety protocols and procedures on-site to prevent accidents and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Communicate and collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and keep projects moving smoothly.
  • Train and mentor team members, providing guidance to improve their technical skills, safety awareness, and productivity.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities, work progress, timekeeping, and equipment usage.
  • Address delays, emergencies, and unexpected issues that arise during construction, implementing practical solutions to keep the project on track.
  • Coordinate construction activities such as carpentry, concrete work, framing, foundation construction, and new construction tasks.
  • Oversee materials management and support coordination of electrical, plumbing, and other trades as needed.
  • Apply project coordination and construction project management practices to support successful project delivery.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience supervising and managing construction crews on commercial or similar construction sites.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project plans.
  • Hands-on experience in carpentry, including framing and related structural work.
  • Practical experience with concrete work and foundation construction.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and construction equipment safely and effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to direct, motivate, and mentor team members.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with crew members, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of safety compliance and the ability to enforce on-site safety protocols.
  • Strong focus on quality control, with the ability to inspect work and ensure it meets required standards.
  • Organizational skills for timekeeping, scheduling, and tracking daily work progress.
  • Ability to manage materials, tools, and equipment to support efficient site operations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with project coordination and construction project management.
  • Knowledge of materials management practices in a construction environment.
  • Familiarity with electrical and plumbing trades and how they integrate into overall construction projects.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation related to site activities and equipment usage.
  • Problem-solving skills to address delays, emergencies, and unexpected site issues.
  • Strong sense of responsibility for site safety, quality, and productivity.

Work Environment

This role is based on various commercial construction sites, where you work primarily in the field overseeing active projects. The environment involves exposure to typical construction conditions, including outdoor work, changing weather, and active work areas with tools, equipment, and building materials. You regularly interact with multiple trades and coordinate activities across different phases of construction, using hand tools and standard construction equipment throughout the workday.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Martinsburg, WV.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
