MajorDuties

  • Serves as a senior policy advisor and senior technical authority on global health issues and U.S. foreign affairs with a focus on HIV, malaria, TB, maternal and child health and/or nutrition.
  • Analyzes emerging global health data and diplomatic communications to determine potential triggers for U.S. response actions, advisories, foreign assistance, or multilateral engagement. Validate proposals based on technical correctness.
  • Provide technical guidance for actions assigned by State Department offices, U.S. embassies and posts, and other U.S. government agencies related to global health program management and strategic assistance.
  • Provides authoritative strategic planning and policy advice and guidance to senior leaders and officials Department-wide that reflect best practices and full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. law, Foreign Affairs Manual (FAM) or Foreign Affairs Handbook (FAH) provisions and relevant regulations. Align policies with existing treaties, agreements, or commitments.

Evaluations

The evaluation process consists of the Monster Competency Based Assessments for which applicants will be assigned a score between 70 and 100. A resume review by subject matter experts will be conducted for the top qualified candidates based on total score. Resumes longer than two pages will be deemed ineligible and will not be considered further. You will be assessed on the following job-related competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics): Non-Supervisory: Oral Communication, Writing, Interpersonal Skills, Problem Solving, Teamwork, Technology Orientation, Customer Service, Attention to Detail and Self-Management. Your score from the external assessment (Non-supervisory) will remain on file for 180 days, allowing you to apply for multiple DOS-announced positions without needing to retake the assessments. The assessment is used to measure the degree in which your background matches the competencies and KSAs required for this position. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies: Knowledge of, and experience in, the realm of global health policy objectives. Skills managing and monitoring global health programs. Ability to establish and maintain liaison with officials throughout foreign affairs Ability to provide advice and guidance based on results of analyses. Skills making recommendations for interagency policy.
