The Kitsap County Auditor’s Office is seeking an entry-level Fiscal Support Technician to join our Finance team. Under the direction of the assigned Accounting Manager, this position performs essential accounting and financial support duties while ensuring compliance with complex federal and state regulations, internal county policies, and strict deadlines. This role requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to manage confidential information.
This position focuses on high-volume accounts payable processing and routine fiscal tasks within a Financial Management System, working under the direct supervision of the Accounting Manager.
As a Fiscal Support Technician, you will:
• Audit expenditure and reimbursement requests to ensure compliance with applicable federal (IRS, CFR), state (BARS, RCW, WAC), and local (Resolutions, Ordinances, policies) regulations.
• Review contracts for compliance with terms and financial requirements.
• Cancel and reissue warrants following established procedures.
• Communicate with departments, special purpose districts, and external agencies to provide guidance, training, and support in resolving invoice discrepancies and payment issues.
• Settle and print warrant disbursements and process direct deposits using Workday Financials, ACH, and EFT systems while adhering to strict accuracy and security protocols.
• Receive, index, verify, and archive county contracts in accordance with RCW, Kitsap County Code, Auditor policies, and State Archives retention schedules.
• Set up and maintain vendor accounts, including W-9 collection and 1099 year-end reporting.
• Stay current on 1099 regulations to ensure complete, accurate tax reporting.
What you bring: (Qualifications)
Required:
• Two (2) years of experience in a fiscal office performing accounts payable, auditing, finance, or related duties using a computerized financial system.
• Related education may substitute for up to six months of required experience. (Associates Degree is preferred or related accounting course work)
Preferred:
• Experience with Workday Financial Management.
• Governmental accounting experience.
• Accounts payable experience within the last 3–5 years.
