Position Summary

The Fire Inspector is responsible for conducting inspections of fire sprinkler systems, fire alarms, fire extinguishers, backflows, and other life safety systems. This role requires a mechanically inclined, detail-oriented individual who can work independently, follow schedules, and submit accurate inspection reports.

This position is essential for ensuring compliance with NFPA codes and local regulations, maintaining high-quality service, and supporting a safe environment for clients and team members.


Key Responsibilities

Inspection Duties

  • Perform sprinkler, fire alarm, extinguisher, and backflow inspections.
  • Correctly complete all inspection documentation and reports.
  • Conduct inspections according to NFPA codes and manufacturer standards.
  • Develop working knowledge across multiple fire life safety disciplines and cross-train to obtain multiple licenses.
  • Ensure all inspections comply with Denver city licensing requirements.


Specialized Inspections

  • Sprinkler: Inspect Wet, Dry, Fire Pumps, Pre-action, Deluge, Antifreeze Loops, Backflows, etc.
  • Fire Alarm: Inspect and program fire alarm systems per NFPA standards.
  • Extinguisher/Hood/Special Hazard: Inspect fire extinguishers, hood suppression systems, and special hazard systems depending on license.
  • Super Tech: Lead large inspections and complex projects; mentor lower-level technicians.


Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all inspections meet NFPA standards and local regulations.
  • Support Joint Commission (TJC) compliance for healthcare facilities if required.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to company safety policies.


Additional Duties

  • Assist Inspection Manager or step in as needed.
  • Participate in training and continuous development opportunities.
  • Travel to various job sites (currently <30%, may increase as needed).


Required Skills & Licenses

  • Current CSA Card
  • Fire Alarm License for Inspections – Denver
  • Sprinkler License for Inspections – Denver
  • Fire Extinguisher License – Colorado
  • Clean driving record
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Mechanically inclined with strong troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to follow schedules, work independently, and submit timely reports
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills


Preferred Experience

  • Sprinkler: 5+ years (installation/service experience a plus)
  • Fire Alarm: 3+ years (installation/service experience a plus)
  • Extinguisher: 2+ years
  • Hood Suppression: 3+ years
  • Special Hazard: 5+ years with FAL license


Super Tech / Leadership

  • Ability to mentor apprentices and lead larger inspection projects
  • Cross-training in multiple licensing areas


Physical & Work Requirements

  • Reliable transportation to multiple job sites
  • Lift up to 80 lbs occasionally
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Climb ladders and navigate uneven terrain
  • Follow safety and driving guidelines
