EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: U.S. Citizenship Required. Must obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. This position is subject to provisions of the DoW Priority Placement Program. Employees are paid through Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT). Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. Veterans' Preference applies (if applicable) to this advertisement. May be required to successfully complete a two-year trial and one-year supervisory probation period. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft. 2. The employee is subject to random drug testing. 3. Must be certified by the DoD/DOW Fire Fighter Certification system as Fire Officer IV (includes Fire Officer I, II, III), Fire Instructor II (includes Fire Instructor I), Fire Inspector II (includes Fire Inspector I), HAZMAT Incident Commander (includes Hazmat Awareness, Hazmat Operations), and Airport Firefighter (includes Firefighter I, II). 4. Incumbent may work a minimum 56 or 60-hour week with supervisor's approval. 5. Required to participate in a physical fitness program and pass an annual physical. 6. Incumbent is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week unless TDY or on leave. 7. Special Retirement Provisions Authority: One of the following may apply: a. FERS Position covered as secondary under the FERS special retirement provisions for Federal firefighters [5USC 8401(14), 5 USC 8412 (d), and 5 CFR 842.802]. Authority: Secretary of Defense Memorandum, dated 31 Aug 89 OR b. CSRS Position covered as a secondary position under the CSRS special retirement provisions for Federal firefighters [5 USC 8331 (21), 5 USC 8336(c), and 5 CFR 831.902]. Authority: OPM Memorandum, dated 26 Jun 89. 8. This position meets criteria for secondary/administrative coverage under special retirement coverage provisions in that it requires prior experience in a primary or equivalent outside experiences a prerequisite. 9. This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. Priority Placement Program (PPP) DoD Military Reserve (MR) and National Guard (NG) Technicians: MR or NG Technicians who will lose or lost military membership through no fault of their own after completing at least 15 years of technician service and a minimum of 20 years of service creditable for non-regular retirement may exercise preference eligibility to DoD positions with the local commuting area in accordance with section 3329(b) of Title 5, U.S.C. This preference eligibility is valid for 1 year after separation.
