As the Financial Management Analyst III – Strategic Oversight, you’ll be a vital member of the Provost Office team that provides financial oversight and support to a broad portfolio of academic, auxiliary, and academic support units.

The Financial Management Analyst III provides coordination and direction for financial management, planning, budgeting, reporting, accounting, and analysis activities across the Provost area management center. This includes oversight of 8 schools, 10 institutes and centers, and more than 20 support units, auxiliary services, and strategic initiatives.
You will support strategic, operating, capital, and multi‑year planning; advise unit‑level and senior leadership; and perform complex and specialized assignments in financial and accounting operations. Your work ensures financial accuracy, strong internal controls, policy compliance, and high‑quality reporting that informs decision‑making at the highest levels of Duke leadership.

What You Bring
Education & Training
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience
At least six years of experience in financial management, including financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, and financial modeling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Duke systems and policies.
- Experience in staff supervision and performance management.
- Proven ability to solve complex financial and operational issues.
- CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred.
Skills & Strengths
- Excellent customer service and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong organizational, management, and administrative skills.
- Ability to manage high-volume workload and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with academic programs in higher education.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, SAP, and integrated financial systems.
- Ability to interpret and present large data sets for senior leadership decision-making.
