Senior Financial Analyst III

Position Summary

The Financial Analyst III, Clinical Research provides advanced financial and budgeting support for clinical research studies. This Senior-level role leads study budget development, evaluates financial feasibility, negotiates budgets with industry sponsors, and ensures compliance with Medicare and institutional regulations. The analyst serves as a subject-matter expert for research finance, resolves complex budget and billing issues, supports reporting and leadership presentations, and mentors junior team members within the clinical research finance group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development and oversight of clinical research study budgets
  • Evaluate financial feasibility of proposed clinical trials
  • Negotiate budgets with industry sponsors and external partners
  • Ensure compliance with Medicare, institutional, and regulatory requirements
  • Resolve complex billing, budgeting, and financial compliance issues
  • Provide financial reporting and analysis for leadership and key stakeholders
  • Support presentations and internal financial reviews
  • Serve as a Senior resource for research finance questions and best practices
  • Mentor and guide junior financial analysts

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Advanced financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting experience
  • Strong clinical research finance background
  • Expertise in financial planning and analysis (FP&A)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with Smartsheet
  • Strong understanding of Medicare and institutional billing compliance
  • Ability to communicate financial insights clearly to leadership
  • Proven ability to work independently at a Senior/expert level

This is a Contract position based out of Boston, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
