Position Overview

The Finance Functional Systems Analyst (FFSA) is the university’s functional leader responsible for defining, governing, and optimizing Finance & Administration business processes supported by Oracle Cloud ERP. This role ensures that financial workflows, data structures, security, and system configurations meet the needs of a complex higher-education environment, including decentralized budgeting, auxiliary operations, grants management, research activity, and multi-fund accounting.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Define, document, and govern end-to-end Finance processes supporting General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Cash Management, Expenses, Assets, Procurement, Payroll and Budget Planning with a higher-education lens.
  • Lead functional design, configuration oversight, and approval for all Oracle Cloud ERP Finance and EPM module changes.
  • Manage the Oracle Cloud Finance roadmap, including evaluation of new features, impact assessments, and alignment with university strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with Research Administration, Budget, Enrollment Management, Auxiliary Services, HR, and IT to ensure financial processes and financial reporting support academic, research, and student operations.
  • Oversee quarterly Oracle release readiness, including regression testing, training updates, and communication to business officers and departmental users.
  • Strengthen data governance and reporting accuracy, including stewardship of the chart of accounts, payroll elements, cost center manager security, faculty/staff costing, project/grant attributes, and audit trails.
  • Lead user enablement across campus, including creation of SOPs, training materials, knowledge articles, and support models tailored to departmental business officers.
  • Drive operational excellence by identifying inefficiencies, monitoring KPIs, and recommending policy or workflow changes to improve service delivery.
  • Champion Oracle best practices, reducing customizations and ensuring strong alignment with higher education and public sector financial requirements.
  • Manage computer replacement cycle for Finance division.

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in finance operations within higher education, public sector, or a similarly complex environment.
  • Hands-on functional experience with Oracle Cloud ERP (Financials) and strong understanding of configuration, workflows, integrations, security, and quarterly updates.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage operational change across decentralized units.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process-improvement skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to explain financial and system concepts to diverse audiences.
  • ​Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products, such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with sponsored programs, grant management, auxiliary operations, or multi-fund accounting.
  • Experience leading ERP optimization or transformation projects in higher education.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle reporting tools (FDI, OTBI, BI Publisher, Smart View) and data governance frameworks.
  • Certification in project management, Lean/Six Sigma, or organizational change management.
