The Product Controller team is an integral component of the CIB Finance & Business Management (F&BM) function and is responsible for providing business advisory and accounting support, control oversight and integrity of the financial statements and transaction end-to-end control in support of the business.

Role Description:

The CIB Credit Costs/Stress Testing Product Control team is responsible for the review and reporting of Credit Costs across both the Current Expected Credit Loss (CECL) and international accounting frameworks as well as the analysis and reporting of the annual Stress Testing and quarterly Risk appetite results across the entire CIB loans and commitments portfolio. The team works closely with Wholesale Credit Risk Controllers, Special Credits, Accounting Policy, Central Planning & Analysis, Legal Entity Controllers and the various lines of business controllers across the CIB.

Given the specialized nature of the role, it provides a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual to gain exposure to the various lending products across the CIB and to become a subject matter expert on credit costs and stress testing from the modelling to the reporting of results. The individual will be involved in understanding and validating model projections, with a specific emphasis on Credit Costs, Risk Weighted Assets, Net Interest Income, Held for Investment, Held for Sale and Fair Value Option balance sheet projections. They will understand and validate credit costs results, including preparing Ledger entries on a quarterly basis & coordinate ledger booking with Financial Controllers & CIB Product Controllers

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Stress Testing/ Risk Appetite submissions
  • Establish control checks to ensure the submission templates are accurate and complete
  • Propose output and model enhancements when needed
  • Understand and validate IFRS 9 model outputs, including assessing FVOCI and liaising with Legal Entity Controllers
  • Engage with Special Credits Group to review and track asset specific reserves changes
  • Perform monthly validation and analysis of Non-performing and Criticized and Classified exposures
  • Review & validate various external reporting schedules including: Allowance rollforwards, ASR, HCN/RCN, HIB/RIB, Country Exposure, etc.

Required Qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • BA / BS degree required - 3+ years of experience in finance area, particularly a plus to have knowledge of banking-book products and capital
