Under the general supervision of the Chief and Deputy Chief, supervises those clients placed on Bond and Community Control; assignment to a specialized caseload or other special duties as determined by the Chief and Deputy Chief. Primary responsibility is to promote public safety to the community through active supervision of clients, as well as actively supporting the values of the Adult Probation Department and the Judges of the General Division. Assist with criminal justice officials, agencies, institutions, and treatment providers; ensure that proper mental health and substance abuse treatment is provided to the clients; provides updates to Probation Officers on those clients who are on the scheduled field list.
$21.59 / hour, 20 hours per week. Employee sets own hours but must be evening and weekend hours only!ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY! These duties are a representative sample. Position assignments may vary)

•Provide a timely response to violations of supervision terms and conditions.
•Maintain strict confidentiality with respect to information obtained during the operation of the department programs.
•Transport clients safely, following proper policies and procedures.
•Supervise a caseload according to client contact standards for client homes, office, employment and social service agencies.
•Supervision of all assigned clients prior to and after disposition, assisting the client with meeting case plan goals.
•Effectively address risk and need issues of clients through referrals to appropriate resource providers.
•Successfully complete State Certification Testing for Firearm.
•Successfully re-qualify annually in state firearms training.
•Documentation of client interaction in real-time using the Ohio Community Supervision System (OCSS).
•Follows and enforces the safety and security policies and procedures of the Greene County Jail.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Skill in: Data entry and correspondence; preparing routine reports; using computers and related software applications; using office equipment such as telephones, copiers, and fax machines; communication; interpersonal skills with coworkers, supervisor, general public, and court staff; ability to exchange or convey information; maintaining accurate daily written documentation of case management activities undertaken to ensure offender compliance.
Ability to: Follow specific instructions and guidelines; recognize safety warnings; make sound and reasonable decisions; ability to prioritize and organize responsibilities; ability to write in a meaningful and legible manner; maintain accurate records; ability to appropriately use case management system; conduct search and seizure of persons and/or property in compliance with established departmental guidelines regarding use of force and or evidence chain of custody; arrest and/or assist in the arrest of offenders; and transportation of clients safely and in compliance with established departmental policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS / LICENSE(S) REQUIRED:
Education: B.A. or B.S. degree in Corrections, Criminal Justice or related field or 15 years or more experience in law enforcement, or any combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position as listed in the position description. Ability to obtain maintain established level of proficiency in the use of firearms, at least 21 years of age, holds a valid Ohio Driver’s License and meets County Driving Policy requirements. Must have completed the OPOTA Firearms course.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Indoor work performed in temperatures within normal comfort zone; outside work involving different climate changes; potential exposure on a routine basis to communicable illness and disease; potential physical interaction with clients. Incumbents may be subjected to personal injury, physical violation, blood, and body fluids. Work hours consist of a 20-hour work week. Physical Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require: bending/stooping, driving, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Incumbents may be subjected to travel and inclement weather. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasional and all other sedentary criteria are met.
DRUG FREE WORKPLACE:
While Ohio has enacted H.B. 523, Ohio’s Medical Marijuana law, the law specifically states that employers are not required to permit or accommodate an employee’s use, possession or distribution of medical marijuana. The Adult Probation Department is a drug-free workplace and the employee’s use, possession or distribution of medical marijuana is prohibited. The Adult Probation Department receives several grants which require the Department maintain a drug-free workplace policy.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD:
This position shall have a probationary period of one year from the date of hire. No appointment is final until the appointee has satisfactorily served the probationary period. If the service of the probationary employee is unsatisfactory, the employee may be removed at any time during the probationary period.
This position is grant funded. The continuation of this position under this grant and any potential renewal of this grant is at the discretion of the Bureau of Community Sanctions and/or the Greene County Common Pleas Court. Continued future employment is not guaranteed.
