Field Deployment Engineer
Remote / Heavy US-wide Field Travel
Insight are looking for a technical Field Engineer to lead the deployment of autonomous systems. This is a trust-critical, high-autonomy role: you will serve as the senior technical authority on the ground, often as the sole expert responsible for keeping high-end robotic fleets operational on industrial construction sites.
What You’ll Do
- Be the primary on-site resource for diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, and operational failures.
- Manage the loading, transport, setup, and daily operation of robotic systems.
- Get your hands dirty - you’ll be troubleshooting hardware, using diagnostics, and performing field repairs in demanding outdoor environments.
- Document field events, translating real-world site conditions into actionable data for software / hardware teams to strive for improvement.
- Serve as the face of the company to site superintendents and PMs.
- Manage daily reporting, site safety perimeters, and company resources (including logistics and expenses).
Requirements
- A proven track record of diagnosing complex mechanical or electrical issues independently. You are comfortable being the "first and last line of defense" in the field.
- A background in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or equivalent heavy field experience with autonomous fleets, industrial automation, or heavy construction machinery.
- The discipline to manage long-term deployments (3 - 6 months) and company resources responsibly without close supervision.
- A genuine willingness to travel ~70% of the time and work outdoors in diverse weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills to manage client expectations while explaining technical failures to remote developers.
