Location/Division Specific Information
You will be a part of the Global Solutions Team of Field Application Scientists within the Materials and Structural Analysis Division (MSD). Position will be based in New York City, New York.

How you will make an impact?
Our Global Solutions Team has one, unified goal – to help our customers be successful in their research. We do this primarily by delivering extraordinary training and support for our customers with Life Science TEM systems such as the Tundra, Glacios, Talos Arctica, Titan Krios, and Aquilos SDB SEM. In addition, we also support our field service, marketing, sales, and R&D teams.

What you will do?
Microscope management of service issues within the scope of a regular end user’s responsibility, including but not limited to the following:

• Coordinate with site lab personnel and with Supplier’s service team to schedule service. Follow Supplier’s standard operating procedure for reporting service issues and open service calls as necessary
• Check on data quality/alignments when needed, ensuring the facility is stocked with various microscopy needs
• Proactively craft and implement improvements in the workflow to improve speed, quality and reliability of data collection on Supplier’s equipment
• Maintain open communication with site scientific team to enable IT requirements for Supplier instrument operation
• Work closely with users for microscope time slot scheduling and management
• Collaborate with site Scientists to ensure all reasonable documentation regarding the scope of work is completed in a timely manner
• Train users on and perform grid preparation, loading, data collection and data processing
• Receive and store cryo-EM samples accurately
• Test new features and methods
• Co-author publications as approved in writing by site and Supplier
• Abide by all confidentiality or NDA agreements

How you will get here:
Education

Master’s degree with 5 years of relevant industry experience; Ph.D. degree with a focus on cryo-EM structural biology preferred

Experience
• 3 + years’ experience in routine equipment maintenance, microscope operation, and computational aspects of cryo-EM
• 1+ years’ experience leading efforts to maintain and elevate the cryo-EM customer experience
• Strong track record of scientific accomplishments within one or more cryo-EM techniques
• Experience interacting with customers, service engineers, product marketing managers, and R&D

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to collaborate in cross-disciplinary drug discovery environments
• Team driven mentality that can also work independently
• Ability to work remotely on projects if deemed necessary by the site due to circumstances outside of normal control (e.g., restrictions on in-person lab work due to COVID)

The salary range estimated for this position is $106,500 - $162,750. This position will also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. Actual compensation will be confirmed in writing at the time of offer.
