We are seeking a skilled Facilities Technician to support the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of building systems and equipment. This role is hands‐on and covers a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems within a large facility environment. The ideal candidate is detail‐oriented, safety‐focused, and eager to grow technical expertise.
Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and repair assigned facility machinery and equipment to ensure continuous and efficient operation
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on:
- Chillers (centrifugal and screw type)
- Cooling towers and air handling units
- HVAC and air‐conditioning systems
- Variable frequency drives (VFDs)
- Building Automation Systems (pneumatic and DDC)
- Electrical and electrical distribution systems (including ballast replacement)
- Plumbing and piping systems
- Pumps, air compressors, generators, and internal combustion engines
- Ice machines and related equipment
- Ensure safe, economical operation of the facility at all times
- Complete assigned work orders and accurately document progress and completion in an automated work order system
- Follow all safety procedures and prioritize the safety of employees, visitors, and contractors
- Conduct routine inspections and identify potential equipment or safety issues
- Participate in training, seminars, and skill‐building activities to enhance technical knowledge
- Identify energy conservation opportunities and support implementation efforts
- Assist with ongoing review and improvement of engineering procedures and practices
- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of facility operations
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience in facilities maintenance or building operations
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems
- Ability to read and work from blueprints and schematics
- Ability to safely operate company‐owned vehicles without restrictions
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands‐on experience or strong interest in learning maintenance and repair of:
- Boilers, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC systems, and Client controls
- Electrical distribution, plumbing, and piping systems
- Experience using automated work order management systems
- Familiarity with Building Automation Systems such as Siemens or Johnson Controls
- Experience ordering supplies and managing maintenance documentation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, including maintaining spreadsheets
