Facility Maintenance Technician- Orlando
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, the Senior Custodian Technician is responsible for the daily maintenance and cleanliness of the food bank facility. This role also performs a variety of advanced maintenance tasks, including minor plumbing repairs, floor stripping and buffing, and light electrical work to ensure a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment.

hunger-relief organization in the United States. Second Harvest Food Bank secures and distributes food and grocery
products to more than 870 feeding partners throughout Central Florida. With the help of food and financial

service area, which includes Brevard, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia. Feeding neighbors

Department Overview
The Operations team at Second Harvest plays a key role in our day-to-day functions. This includes tasks handling major and minor warehouse operations such as inspection, procurement, acceptance, put-away, picking, packing, order assembly, shipping/receiving, and facility maintenance.
Work Hours
Monday- Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Travel
Occasional travel may be required to other Second Harvest Food Bank locations within the seven-county service area as business needs arise.
Responsibilities
- Monitor building conditions and report any safety, structural, or maintenance concerns.
- Support facility upkeep, including cleaning of work areas, restrooms, and common spaces.
- Assist with general maintenance activities such as light electrical, plumbing, or equipment troubleshooting within scope of expertise.
- Working knowledge of general building maintenance, including repairing minor building issues, including drywall repair, patching, and painting
- Working knowledge of proper floor care techniques, including buffing, waxing, and stripping
- Familiarity with safety standards, including OSHA guidelines and general workplace safety practices
- Perform exterior facility upkeep, including pressure washing buildings, sidewalks, and loading areas
- Maintain grounds by blowing leaves, clearing debris, and ensuring safe walkways and work areas
- Support seasonal and weather-related facility need
- Install and replace light fixtures, bulbs, and basic electrical components in compliance with safety guidelines
- Respond to maintenance requests and complete work orders in a timely and efficient manner
- Collaborating with Operations leadership on facility projects and maintenance scheduling
- Assist with special projects, facility upgrades, and event setup as needed
- Maintain detailed documents of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment updates
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Minimum of three years of directly related experience
- Experience with floor stripping and buffing
- Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge
- Awareness of methods for resolving disputes and fostering collaboration.
- A general understanding of project management lifecycles, methodologies, and resource allocation.
- A general understanding of practices, regulations, and trends relevant to the department.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and tight deadlines with efficiency.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to support department and client needs
- Flexibility to pivot strategies or workflows based on new priorities or challenges.
- Strong hands-on mechanical and maintenance skills
- Ability to foster strong, collaborative relationships across departments and with external partners
Physical requirements/environment
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, continuously
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs with or without assistance
- Warehouse setting with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels
- Ability to stay on your feet for long periods of time
