The Jewish Community Center of Syracuse is one of the oldest JCCs in North America, offering high-quality programs for individuals of all ages in the Central New York (CNY) community. Our services range from early childhood development in the Jerome & Phyllis Charney Early Childhood Development Program to senior dining through the Bobbi Epstein Lewis Senior Adult Dining Program. We also feature the Neulander Family Sports & Fitness Center, open seven days a week, along with a wide variety of programs for adults and children. Role Description

The Facilities Manager will oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and safety of the JCC’s physical facilities, including its Fitness Center, Early Childhood Program, and communal spaces. This also includes the maintenance of the 7 acres of property where the JCC resides.


Responsibilities include

  • managing maintenance schedules and supervising staff.
  • Conducting routine inspections.
  • Coordinating repairs.
  • Maintains and oversees all outside contractors and services; such as landscapers, snow removal, garbage pick up, etc.
  • Acts as the General Contractor for building projects and is responsible for securing bid for major work associated with the building.
  • Maintains supply inventory and is responsible for ordering all supplies for the JCC departments - paper products, cleaning propdcuts, etc.
  • Oversees the opening, closing and maintenance of two outdoor pools.
  • Repairs and maintains the JCC playgrounds - contracts work as needed.
  • Maintains the fire alarm system and conducts regular drills and inspections.
  • Maintains asbestos log and recertifies annually.
  • Oversees the maintenance of the JCC owned school bus - includes the scheduling of preventative maintenance, scheduling of repair work, registration and appropriate New York State paperwork.
  • Monitoring building safety, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards
  • Working alongside other departments to support operational efficiency.


This is a full-time, on-site role based in Syracuse, NY. The position reports directly to the Executive Director.


Qualifications

  • Technical knowledge and experience in facility maintenance, building systems, and repair, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills for coordinating maintenance schedules, supervising staff, and managing vendors or contractors.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills to work collaboratively with staff and external partners.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks and respond promptly to facility-related emergencies.
  • Experience in budgeting, expense management, and cost analysis for facility operations is a plus.
  • Previous experience in facilities management, property management, or a related field is preferred.
