MajorDuties

  • As a Facilities Maintenace Worker, you will: Performs painting of building structures, e.g. doors, window sashes, walls, etc. Builds shelves and makes repairs to building structures. Does remodeling and maintaining of existing facilities. Performs plumbing repairs, modifications to facilities, and maintains water systems (e.g., potable, well, purification, etc.) Repairs concrete surfaces by patching, dry-packing, curing and finishing as required for acceptable appearances. Services and makes repairs or replacement to heating and air conditioning equipment, which includes changing filters, greasing and lubricating. Greases and lubricates freight elevators, hoists, and bridge cranes. Performs maintenance and repair of alarm systems. Performs maintenance of fuel dispensing facilities, which includes adjustment to, testing, and the changing of hoses and filters. Maintains and replaces windows and doors, including adjustment of hinges, locking mechanisms, and lubrication of doors and hardware. Repairs, installs and adjusts various types of fencing; including fence fabric, security wires, top rails, and truss supports. Performs maintenance and repair of various roofing systems, including sheet metal and down spouts. Performs maintenance of grounds, including application of pesticides and fertilizers. Performs maintenance of roads, walks, and parking areas including snow removal, sweeping, leveling, and grading.

This position requires a preemployment medical exam, at BPA expense, prior to appointment due to the physical requirements of the position. After employment, this position may be subject to periodic physical examinations, as prescribed by competent medical authority and at BPA expense, if exposed to health hazards. Become familiar with and follow the safety practices of the BPA Accident Prevention Manual and OSHA regulations applicable to this position. If exposed to health hazards, have periodic physical examinations as prescribed by competent medical authority at BPA expense. (Employees will work in close proximity to substances, such as asbestos, acids, PCB's, pesticides, mercury, lead, etc., which may have effects on health unless prescribed handling procedures are followed.) Subject to call for emergency work at any time. Possess a valid state driver's license. Additional endorsements on valid driver's license may be required to operate assigned vehicles in compliance with state regulations. Traffic citations indicating poor driving habits may disqualify applicants. Obtain non-electrical worker permit within 30 days after appointment. Possess within one year after appointment, and maintain continuously thereafter, a First Aid Card. Operate motorized equipment, e.g. 1-ton pickup, flatbed or van-type truck, forklift, or bobcat. Obtaining any necessary Certification is the responsibility of the employee. As part of the job requirements may be required to apply restricted use pesticides and may be required to obtain a pesticide applicator's license. The Administration shall provide the necessary training for such a license.
