Location: This will be based out of our Crown Point location, in-office 3 days per week (Tu-Th).

Position Purpose:

The ideal candidate for the Export Specialist opening is detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment. This candidate will be responsible for the export international shipping.


Job Functions:

  • Obtain and create quotes for shipments and source best method of transportation.
  • Perform data input to create packing lists, commercial invoices and other documents required for shipping per international orders from sales
  • Distribute documents for international shipments to both internal and external customers.
  • Support Compliance Manager in determining proper Harmonized Tarriff Codes for Schedule B (HTS numbers) for Export shipments
  • Review product type and quantity per customer order and include proper documentation.
  • Review orders and inland Bill of Lading for completeness, accuracy shipment data such as weight, quantities, gross and net weights.
  • Communicate with Logistic Carriers and Forwarders to arrange shipments and follow up for bill of lading.
  • Ensure daily shipments of all orders are processed in a timely manner to ensure on-time shipments and the processed orders are correct and completed.
  • Create electronic files for each order/shipment.
  • Maintain up-to-date tracking for all shipments.
  • Support/team up with domestic team for coordinating freight pick‐up/drop‐off.
  • Manage domestic and international shipments, providing support for the transportation process, working with customs brokers, warehouse staff, forwarders, carriers, vendors and clients. Track and troubleshoot shipping problems and documentation as needed.
  • Review, research and prepare internal data/reporting utilized for duty drawback.
  • Ensure Export shipments are accompanied by all documentation required by Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
  • Provide support as required in the areas of duty drawback claims filing, such as proof of export and Letters of Endorsement.
  • Oversee preparation and monitor the status of drawback entry claims.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager or Director of Logistics.


Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of export and/or trade compliance functional experience.
  • Prior working experience of Logistics Processes and Procedures.
  • Initiative to resolve and advise on Trade Compliance related issues.
  • Strong sense of urgency; flexibility in meeting deadlines.
  • Exposure to Canadian Export.
  • Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, etc).
  • Fluent in Spanish preferred.
  • Be able to work in a team environment as well as an ability to work unsupervised.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task, verify facts and information at transactional level.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive in management of projects and tasks.
