Job Summary

The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and management of hospice services. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and organizational growth while fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for hospice services.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and regulatory guidelines, including Medicare and Medicaid requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate goals and objectives aligned with quality standards and organizational mission.
  • Oversee daily business operations to ensure financial stability and performance.
  • Lead operational planning, budgeting, and performance monitoring.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care through interdisciplinary teams.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate clinical and administrative staff.
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, and annual performance evaluations.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels and staff development through training and continuing education.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and resolve patient, employee, and customer concerns in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate effective communication across teams and stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and data collection for governing bodies.
  • Oversee compliance with performance improvement programs and quality initiatives.
  • Participate in on-call rotation as required.
  • Ensure proper authorization and coordination of services provided by external agencies.
  • Maintain oversight of resources including equipment, supplies, and facility needs.
  • Lead and participate in interdisciplinary meetings and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational goals.


Must-Have Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of hospice management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state hospice regulations and Medicare/Medicaid guidelines.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to supervise, direct, and motivate teams.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with patients, families, and community stakeholders.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid driver’s license with insured and reliable transportation.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in corporate or healthcare business management.
