Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lead Ab Initio Engineer to design, develop, and optimize large-scale data integration and data processing solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Ab Initio ETL, data warehousing, and big data ecosystems, along with the ability to lead technical teams and drive end-to-end data engineering initiatives.
This role requires hands-on development, architecture design, performance tuning, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of Ab Initio ETL solutions using GDE (Graphical Development Environment).
- Architect, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data integration workflows.
- Develop and optimize Ab Initio graphs, plans, and scripts for high performance and reliability.
- Work with large datasets across data warehouses, data lakes, and real-time systems.
- Collaborate with business analysts, data architects, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Perform data analysis, data profiling, and data quality checks.
- Optimize ETL jobs for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and code reviews for junior developers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring system stability.
- Implement best practices for data governance, security, and compliance.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
- Work with cloud platforms and modern data architectures where applicable.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in ETL/Data Engineering, with strong focus on Ab Initio.
- Hands-on expertise in:
- Ab Initio GDE, Co>Operating System, EME, Conduct>IT
- Graph development, parallel processing, and performance tuning
- Strong knowledge of:
- SQL and relational databases (Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, etc.)
- Data warehousing concepts (Star/Snowflake schemas, SCDs)
- Experience with:
- Unix/Linux scripting (Shell scripting)
- Data integration, transformation, and migration
- Strong understanding of:
- Data validation, reconciliation, and error handling
- Experience leading teams or acting as a technical lead
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
