Job Title: Environmental Field Technician

Job Description

The Environmental Field Technician oversees the installation, calibration, and performance review of flow, level, and rainfall monitoring equipment within sewer systems. This role focuses on collecting and analyzing sewer flow, level, and rainfall data, maintaining accurate records, and supporting environmental compliance and wastewater monitoring projects across a regional territory.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the installation of flow and level monitors within sewer lines to support wastewater and collection system monitoring projects.
  • Oversee the installation of rainfall monitoring equipment to ensure accurate and reliable precipitation data collection.
  • Perform flow monitor calibration to maintain data accuracy and equipment performance.
  • Collect sewer flow, level, and rainfall data from monitoring sites according to project requirements and schedules.
  • Review collected data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency, and identify potential equipment or data quality issues.
  • Monitor the performance of flow and level monitors and rainfall gauges, and coordinate adjustments or maintenance as needed.
  • Maintain accurate, legible, and organized records in accordance with company quality standards and documented procedures.
  • Follow all applicable safety guidelines and environmental regulations while working in and around sewer systems and monitoring locations.
  • Collaborate with another Environmental Specialist and project leadership to plan field activities and meet project deadlines.
  • Communicate field observations, equipment issues, and data concerns promptly to the project team.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to oversee installation and calibration of flow and level monitors and rainfall monitoring equipment.
  • Ability to collect, review, and interpret sewer flow, level, and rainfall data with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong recordkeeping skills, with the ability to maintain accurate, legible, and organized project documentation.
  • Understanding of OSHA safety practices applicable to field and utility work environments.
  • Ability to work safely in and around sewer lines and outdoor monitoring locations.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively with another Environmental Specialist and report to project leadership.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree or High School Diploma
  • CPR certification preferred
  • First Aid certification preferred

Work Environment

This role operates primarily in the field, with an office base in Londonderry, NH and project sites mainly in the Boston area, with potential travel as far as Bangor, ME and surrounding regions. The schedule typically runs Monday through Thursday with 10-hour days, generally from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with overtime pay available. You will work closely with one other Environmental Specialist and report to a project manager, spending significant time outdoors and around sewer lines, monitoring stations, and utility infrastructure. The position requires adherence to safety protocols, including OSHA and HAZWOPER best practices where applicable, and may involve working in varying weather conditions and in proximity to wastewater systems. Standard field attire and appropriate personal protective equipment are required to perform duties safely and effectively.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Londonderry, NH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr.
