Environmental Data Scientist

This position supports environmental and remediation projects by providing groundwater modeling and environmental database expertise as part of a centralized technical support group. The role is designed for a junior to early-mid level professional, working closely with a senior technical lead to expand modeling capacity and ensure long-term continuity.

Responsibilities

• Perform groundwater modeling to support environmental and remediation projects.
• Develop, review, and update MODFLOW and similar groundwater models.
• Manage and work within environmental databases, including comparable systems.
• Support environmental data workflows, including data validation, quality control, integration of field data into databases, and preparing datasets for modeling and reporting.
• Create and review field maps and spatial datasets to support field activities.
• Act as a centralized technical resource supporting project teams nationwide.
• Collaborate closely with a senior groundwater modeler for training and mentorship.
• Manage multiple requests and shifting priorities in a project-driven consulting environment.

• Proficiency in groundwater modeling, particularly using MODFLOW.
• Experience working with groundwater/environmental datasets.
• Understanding of how data feeds into modeling and reporting.
• Experience with environmental databases, with comparable systems being acceptable.
• Basic GIS familiarity, including the ability to open GIS files, review field maps, and support data validation workflows.

• Master’s or PhD in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree considered with strong applied groundwater modeling experience or significant modeling-focused internships or academic projects.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Exton, PA.

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
