Job Title: Environmental Coordinator
Job Description
The Environmental Coordinator oversees the full lifecycle of equipment orders, from initial customer contact through shipment, receipt, and return. This role combines hands-on shipping and receiving with responsive customer service, ensuring that high-value environmental equipment is accurately processed, tested, and delivered on time. The position offers training on industry trends, the opportunity to work closely with leading environmental organizations, and the chance to grow within a small, collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Handle incoming and outgoing orders for environmental equipment.
- Receive orders via phone, email, and web, and respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries and requests.
- Review each order for completeness and enter any missing or required information into the company’s system.
- Collect equipment from the appropriate storage locations, verify item details, and confirm that the correct products are prepared for each order.
- Test equipment to ensure it is functioning properly before shipment and document any relevant test results or observations.
- Package equipment securely for shipment, following internal standards to protect high-value items during transit.
- Coordinate shipments and track orders through to customer receipt, maintaining clear and accurate documentation of all order movements.
- Manage returns once customers have finished using the equipment, including receiving, inspecting, and documenting returned items.
- Maintain accurate inventory records by documenting orders in and out, updating stock levels, and supporting inventory control activities.
- Provide courteous, solutions-focused customer service by phone and email, addressing questions, issues, and special requests related to equipment and orders.
- Perform administrative and clerical tasks related to order processing, purchase orders, and data entry to support smooth daily operations.
- Multitask effectively between hands-on shipping and receiving duties and customer service responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Apply high attention to detail in all aspects of order entry, equipment handling, and documentation to minimize errors and ensure customer satisfaction.
Essential Skills
- 1–2 years of experience in customer service or shipping and receiving, preferably within the environmental industry.
- Proven ability to handle shipping and receiving tasks, including order processing, packaging, and documentation.
- Strong customer service skills with experience communicating by phone and email in a professional manner.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort working within a Windows PC environment.
- Experience with order entry, data entry, and order management processes.
- Ability to manage order fulfillment from receipt through shipment and return.
- High attention to detail when working with high-value equipment and critical order information.
- Ability to multitask effectively between hands-on shipping work and customer service support.
- Capability to work in person on site to handle physical packages and equipment.
- Strong clerical and administrative skills, including handling purchase orders and maintaining accurate records.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of environmental or engineering equipment.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or a related field such as biology or chemistry.
- Experience with inventory management and tracking.
- Familiarity with Point of Rental or similar order management systems.
- Interest in environmental industries and willingness to learn industry trends.
- Desire to grow within a small, close-knit team environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Salt Lake, UT.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
