This is a security sensitive position and requires a criminal history and/or motor vehicle records check.The Enterprise Application Specialist serves as a key technical resource supporting the development, integration, and performance of enterprise applications, including ERP systems, automation platforms, and institutional data environments. The position plays a critical role in advancing operational efficiency, system integration, and data-informed decision-making across the College.
ERP Applications Support- Maintain, support, and enhance the College’s enterprise applications environment, with primary emphasis on the Colleague ERP and Student Information System ecosystem.
- Assists in evaluating, testing, validating, and supporting vendor-delivered updates, patches, upgrades, and system changes.
- Troubleshoots and resolves application, workflow, and data-related issues affecting supported enterprise systems.
- Supports the reliability, stability, and supportability of enterprise applications and related technical services.
Development, Automation, and Integration- Design, develop, implement, and support technical solutions, including system enhancements, automation, workflows, and integrations that improve business processes and operational efficiency.
- Develop and support system integrations, APIs, interfaces, and data exchanges between internal and third-party systems.
- Develop and support SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and related database objects.
- Develops and supports solutions within Ellucian Colleague Studio, including custom applications, extensions, and enhancements aligned with institutional needs.
- Utilizes the Ellucian Ethos Integration Framework to design, implement, and support API-based integrations and data exchange across enterprise systems.
- Supports modernization of ERP functionality through low-code / no-code and platform-based development approaches where appropriate.
- Apply secure coding practices and industry standards in all development activities.
- Test, debug, and validate system changes to ensure accuracy and functionality.
Data and Reporting Support- Designs, develops, and supports underlying data structures used for operational and enterprise reporting, including datasets, queries, views, and datablocks.
- Provides technical assistance to report writers and functional users by helping ensure data availability, integrity, usability, and performance within reporting environments
- Support reporting environments through data preparation, configuration, and troubleshooting related to source data and system logic.
Collaboration and Functional Alignment- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide technical consultation, and translate business needs into effective solutions.
- Supports cross-functional initiatives requiring enterprise application changes, automation, integration, data support, or technical coordination.
- Assists in identifying opportunities to improve workflows, reduce process friction, and increase operational efficiency through better use of technology.
- Supports data governance, system integrity, and enterprise data standards across integrated systems.
- Contributes to enterprise application planning, system alignment discussions, and long-term improvement initiatives as assigned.
Documentation and Continuous Improvement- Develops and maintains technical documentation, including system changes, testing, deployment, and support procedures.
- Identifies and recommends training opportunities, knowledge transfer needs, and technical process improvements for supported systems and functional areas.
- Participates in change management, testing, deployment, and solution validation activities to support stable and sustainable service delivery.
- Contributes to continuous improvement efforts related to enterprise applications, automation, integration, reporting support structures, and technical service delivery.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENTThe employee typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office. The employee may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to twenty (20) pounds.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Development, or related field
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in enterprise application support, systems development, application programming, systems analysis, database development, or related information technology work
- Experience working with SQL and relational databases
- Experience supporting, developing, or maintaining enterprise applications, integrations, automation, or database-driven systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Experience supporting reporting environments through data preparation, query development, dataset design, or datablock development
- Experience working with a wide range of end users, functional areas, and technical teams to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions
- Experience in higher education technology environments
- Bilingual – English/Spanish
PREFERRED TECHNICAL BACKGROUND- Hands-on experience with Ellucian Colleague, Ellucian Colleague Studio development environment, Ellucian Ethos APIs, and Evisions Argos
- Experience with enterprise systems such as ERP, SIS, HR, or Finance platforms
- Experience with SQL and relational database development, including T-SQL
- Experience with enterprise application development, scripting, or programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, C#, Java, or similar
- Experience with workflow automation or low-code platforms
- Experience supporting reporting environments through data preparation, dataset design, or datablock development
- Experience with integration services and related middleware tools
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES- Ability to analyze business and operational needs and translate them into secure, practical, and supportable technical solutions.
- Knowledge of enterprise application development, support, testing, troubleshooting, and technical solution delivery.
- Knowledge of relational databases, SQL query development, and technical data structures used to support enterprise systems and reporting environments.
- Ability to design, develop, implement, and support system enhancements, workflows, automation, integrations, and related technical solutions that improve operational efficiency and reduce manual processes.
- Ability to support interoperability between systems using APIs, file-based exchanges, data transformation processes, middleware tools, and related integration methods.
- Ability to diagnose technical problems, recommend appropriate solutions, and work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to document code, processes, interfaces, technical solutions, and support procedures using established documentation best practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle institutional, employee, and student data.
