DISTRICT 05 - UNIT 155 – MONROE– OUACHITA PARISH

This position is responsible for assisting professional engineers and/or higher-level technicians in the performance of material sampling, testing and documenting results in District Laboratory.The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties many times with or without minimal supervision and also be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise.The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks.Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR

Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance.

  • Performs laboratory materials testing such as asphaltic materials acceptance and verification, soils testing and aggregate acceptance and verification.
  • Attends required training classes and receives on-the-job in performing materials sampling and/or testing. Keeps certifications current in Materials Testing Specialty areas.
  • Assists the ET 7 with the materials quality assurance documentation program by maintaining an accurate and thorough inventory of all materials samples.
  • May be required to perform other duties as necessary including, but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities.

Engineering Technician 1- Starting salary is $1120.00/bi-weekly
Engineering Technician 2 - Starting salary is $1282.40/bi-weekly
Engineering Technician 3 - Starting salary is $1468.00/bi-weekly
Engineering Technician 4 - Starting salary is $1680.00/bi-weekly

Compensation: This position is eligible for premium pay for every hour worked:
Engineering Technician 1-4 - $2.00/hour

Work Schedule: Work hours are 7:45 am - 4:15 pm, Monday-Friday
