As an Engineering Project Site Manager, you will support outage execution for Distributed Control System (DCS) retrofit projects across thermal and renewable power applications. This role is ideal for someone who understands construction or field installation work, communicates effectively with multiple stakeholders, and enjoys leading on‑site activities from planning through final acceptance. This position can be located in the following offices Charlotte, NC, Cranberry Township, PA, Houton, TX, Latham, NY, Tinley Park, IL, or Warren, NJ. 

You will join Emerson’s Power & Water Solutions business and collaborate with a diverse team delivering engineered control system solutions for power generation customers across North America.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Oversee and implement outage plans for installation and commissioning of control system retrofit projects with a strong focus on safety.
  • Coordinate onsite activities during outages, including demolition, installation, loop checks, functional testing, startup, and tuning.
  • Bring subcontractors, craft labor, and Emerson team members together by providing clear, steady direction and ensuring alignment on scope and daily goals.
  • Serve as the primary onsite customer contact, facilitating communication between internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Manage outage schedules, resources, and work sequencing to help reduce financial impacts and maintain overall project performance.
  • Prepare daily status reports, monitor progress, and create action plans to keep work moving smoothly.
  • Identify and resolve issues quickly to keep projects on track and maintain a strong customer experience.
  • When not actively supporting outages, assist with contractor walkdowns, Scope of Work development, cost estimating, proposal inputs, documentation preparation, preoutage planning, and subcontractor relationship building.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar STEM degree. 
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience

     

  • Experience in power generation or related industry 
  • Proven success working in electrical construction, engineering, or project management roles 
  • Knowledge of power generation or related industrial environments

     

  • Ability to travel to customer power plants approximately 50–60% of the time
  • Ability to work in industrial settings, including standing, walking, climbing stairs or ladders, and occasionally lifting or carrying 25–40 pounds

     

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - sponsorship will not be provided for this position

 

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Familiarity with DCS/PLC systems 
  • Familiarity with Ovation and WDPF
  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical equipment and associated field I/O
  • Experience supporting complex retrofit projects in operational plant environments

Our compensation philosophy is simple: we pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during our annual merit review process. The salary range for this role is $90,000- $128,700 commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to a role.
