We are seeking a visionary Engineering Manager with hands-on full-stack engineering experience to lead our Data Platform Engineering team. In this pivotal 'player-coach' role, you will shape the future of the team’s developer experience by modernizing the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) in their support of several data products used to catalog and scan enterprise data assets. This Engineering Manager will be responsible for enabling continuous delivery, migrating the platforms to the cloud, and championing a culture of engineering excellence and innovation. In support of the Product Owner, you will help the team think big, move fast, and collaborate with partners across data governance, information security, and enterprise technology, delivering measurable outcomes aligned with our strategic objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Forge a Strong Product Partnership: Partner with Product Management to define and deliver a milestone-driven platform roadmap aligned to enterprise priorities.
- Cultivate Engineering Excellence: Provide architectural direction for cloud-native, containerized data platforms; lead design reviews, enforce engineering standards, occasionally contributing directly to the code base.
- Continuously Improve Execution & Delivery: Modernize CI/CD pipelines, automate SDLC workflows, and enable continuous delivery at scale.
- Lead with Accountability: Coach, mentor, and develop engineers; foster accountability, high trust, and consistent performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent.
- 6+ years combined experience as a software engineer and leader of a software development team with proven success mentoring teams while remaining technically engaged.
- Proven full‑stack engineering experience, including designing, building, and operating backend services, APIs, and user‑facing applications within modern cloud‑native architectures.
- Deep understanding of CI/CD principles, automation strategies, and modern SDLC best practices.
- Experience implementing CI/CD and SDLC automation using modern developer platforms (e.g., GitHub, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development and productivity tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, agents) and the ability to responsibly integrate them into team workflows.
- Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration frameworks (Kubernetes) within cloud-native architectures
- Strong execution mindset, able to navigate ambiguity and deliver results.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical details to both technical and non-technical business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of data governance capabilities (e.g. data catalog, classification, profiling).
- Familiarity with industry standard data management concepts, including data lakes/warehouses, data pipelines/ELT/ETL, data architecture.
