EMT Flight Paramedic at Covenant Children's Hospital in Lubbock, TX

Responsible for delivery of quality care for critically ill or injured in the air medical or ground transportation environment without supervision. Highly skilled in airway management, the most important skill in managing the pediatric specialty population, as this is the most prevalent type of pediatric patient moved, and the highest number of our requested transports. Responsible for the implementation, coordination, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures found in Covenant Health System policy and procedure manuals. Maintains a responsible attitude toward appropriate and efficient management of medical operations within the scope of services of the Specialty Transport Program. Flight Paramedic must be able to interact with physicians and alternative healthcare facilities. The Flight Paramedic must be highly motivated and able to care for patients using assessment skills and written standards when physician contact is not possible.

***Please note that this position is onsite and therefore requires the ability to commute to Covenant Children’s Hospital in Lubbock, TX.***

Required Qualifications:

  • Successful completion and maintenance of Department of State Health Services or National Registry approved Paramedic training program/certification/license
  • Texas Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic License - Texas Office of EMS-Trauma Systems upon hire -OR- 
  • Texas Paramedic License - Texas Office of EMS-Trauma Systems
  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire
  • National Provider ACLS - American Heart Association upon hire
  • National Provider PALS - American Heart Association upon hire
  • Upon Request: Driving may be necessary as part of this role. Caregivers are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving. Caregivers will be expected to provide proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request.
  • 10 or more years of recent experience as EMT-P with an active 911 service of flight service

Preferred Qualifications:

  • National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians - Paramedic (NREMT-P), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification
  • Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) / International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) provider certification
  • Certification as a Critical Care Paramedic or Flight Paramedic 
  • 3 years of experience in flight medicine
  • 3 years of Trainer of Instructor experience (BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP)
