Employee Relations Manager

This position serves as the primary Employee Relations point of contact for the Planning & Logistics and Functions teams in the Global Supply Chain Division in the US and Canada. The Employee Relations Manager is responsible for proactively ensuring compliance with employment laws across all facilities, supporting complex employee situations ensuring fair and consistent practices are adhered to across the division, identifying key trends and development opportunities and providing recommendations to the Director/Senior Director/division leadership, and leading change management efforts for key policy/process changes and/or system implementations. This role serves as a trusted advisor to HR leaders, providing guidance on performance management, compliance, conflict resolution, leave of absence and accommodation processes, policy interpretation, and workplace investigations. The employee relations manager will also recommend and lead special projects that focus on continuous improvement, simplification/standardization and digitization.

This position is also eligible for bonus and long-term incentive compensation awards based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company’s applicable plans. 

This role is not remote/hybrid. This role will report to Sherwin-Williams Global Headquarters located at 1 Sherwin Way, Cleveland, OH 44113.

Employee Relations Support 

  • Primary Employee Relations contact for Global Supply Chain (GSC) to advise on workplace issues, disciplinary action and assessment of high visibility, complex and sensitive employee relations cases 
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and Legal to ensure consistent application of policies and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Global Supply Chain HRBPs in response to escalated HR-related questions and inquiries.  
  • Act as the division employee relations representative for all Problem Resolution Procedure (PRP) escalations.  
  • Support region and field HR leaders with investigating and responding to employee concerns received through the Company’s Ethics Point portal.  
  • Act as a liaison with Center of Excellence teams to respond to inquiries related to Global Supply Chain processes and procedures 
  • Primary contact to review ADA claims including religious accommodations. 
  • Analyze employee relations trends and metrics to develop proactive strategies that improve employee engagement and reduce risk. 
  • May travel to sites to support complex employee relations situations  
     

Project Management & Compliance 

  • Support the Senior Director in creating and implementing effective programs to maintain compliance with the requirements of federal, provincial, state and local laws 
  • Recommend updates to Global Supply Chain (GSC) Policies and Procedures and lead appropriate communication and education efforts with division and field HR teams.  
  • Partner with HR Specialist and field HR teams to ensure compliance with company policy and federal, provincial, state and local laws. Review findings from routine field audits and review/recommend remedial actions as needed.    
  • Lead/support projects as assigned that support enterprise and division strategic initiatives  

     

Change Management & HR Development  

  • Recommend training and skill building experiences to enhance the knowledge of the field HR leaders based on key trends identified  
  • Partner with Sr. HR Director to facilitate GSC HR Orientation sessions and review content regularly for applicable updates  
  • Maintain and develop tools and processes to provide support to HRBPs related to compliance, policy and employee relations updates.  
  • Identify opportunities for standardization of policy, process, training and/or templates within the division and in partnership with ER teams in other business units.  
  • Support organizational change initiatives by advising on communication strategies and employee impact. Lead education efforts where applicable.
