Role and Impact
The Benefits Associate is an entry-level position that is responsible for helping the Benefits team grow and manage Lightwell’s group health and ancillary benefits segment. This support role assists team members as they serve as advisors to ministry and nonprofit clients—offering tailored benefits solutions, managing renewal strategy, and providing consultative guidance with compassion and care. The Benefits Associate partners with property & casualty teams, marketing, and service staff to expand offerings and ensure an exceptional client experience.
Key Responsibilities
Client Service & Sales Strategy
- Assist in the implementation of growth strategies for group benefits offerings
- Provide data-entry support for the Benefits team.
- Assists Benefit Specialists as they conduct discovery meetings, renewal discussions, and strategic reviews with clients
- Collaborate with P&C Advisors and Benefit Specialists to meet the total coverage needs of clients
- Help ensure timely and accurate submission of applications and onboarding documentation
- Assist Benefit Specialists to ensure strong relationships with benefits clients through year-round service and support
Renewal & Account Management
- Assist the Benefits Specialist in renewal efforts, including re-marketing as needed to ensure competitive offerings
- Assist Benefit Specialists to respond to client inquiries regarding policy changes, claims support, or compliance questions
- Assist in the maintenance of CRM and agency systems with accurate records and communication logs
- Collaborate with internal teams to support high service standards and retention
Collaboration & Outreach
- Work with the Benefits Specialist to partner with the marketing team to support outreach, campaigns, and seminars
- Attend events, conferences, and webinars to represent Lightwell’s benefits capabilities
Compliance & Product Expertise
- Stay current with regulatory requirements and carrier underwriting guidelines
- Understand and advocate for available benefits offerings and their strategic value to ministries
- Comply with agency procedures, documentation standards, and E&O protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma (preferably a college degree)
- No experience necessary, but committed to learning benefits consulting or group health sales
- Working toward attaining their Life & Health license (Up to 1 year to accomplish)
- Basic knowledge of group health, dental, vision, life, and ancillary products
- Some proficiency in CRM, online quoting, and policy management systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and organizational abilities
