Job Title: Electronics Test Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Electronics Technician to support electronics assembly and testing operations in San Jose. This role focuses on hands-on work at the board level, including building PCBA box assemblies, troubleshooting electronics, and supporting production and quality requirements.
Responsibilities
- Build and assemble PCBA box-level systems and perform board-level electronics assembly, rework, calibration, and component replacement.
- Use electrical and hand tools to support assembly and testing activities.
- Document build, test, and repair results in accordance with company and quality standards.
- Support ISO-compliant calibration and documentation processes.
- Lead first-article, prototype, and pilot builds during NPI phases.
- Interpret engineering documentation to accurately execute builds.
- Identify assembly, tooling, and process gaps, and provide structured DFM feedback.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and system-level issues during builds.
- Develop, review, and maintain build documentation including work instructions, travelers, and assembly guides.
- Support Engineering Change Order (ECO) implementation throughout NPI.
- Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Document Control teams to support production teams during NPI-to-manufacturing handoff.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, safety protocols, and ESD requirements.
- Maintain build schedules and ensure readiness for pilot and volume production.
Essential Skills
- Strong electronics troubleshooting and calibration experience.
- Hands-on experience with board-level electronics and PCBA assemblies.
- Proficiency using hand tools such as screwdrivers, torque tools, and wrenches.
- Ability to use electrical test equipment including DMM and shunts.
- Ability to follow build instructions, schematics, and work orders accurately.
- Associate’s degree in Electronics, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 8–10+ years of experience as an electronics or manufacturing technician, including NPI, prototype, or pilot builds.
- Advanced hands-on experience with PCB assembly, soldering (through-hole and SMT), rework, and system integration.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, work instructions, and ECOs.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and assembly processes.
- Experience developing and refining build documentation and work instructions.
- Strong communication and documentation skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet aggressive timelines.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and manufacturing best practices.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- IPC soldering certification or willingness to obtain.
- Experience in semiconductor, electronics, or capital equipment environments.
- Familiarity with document control, revision control, and PLM/DMS systems.
- Experience training production teams during NPI transitions.
- Exposure to continuous improvement initiatives and DFM/process optimization.
- Experience using ERP systems to track builds, parts, and documentation.
Work Environment
This role requires on-site presence 5 days a week in Scotts Valley. The environment is focused on hands-on assembly and testing, utilizing a variety of tools and equipment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Scotts Valley, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
