Job Title: Deck (Rough‑In) Electrician
Job Description

The Deck (Rough‑In) Electrician installs electrical conduit, boxes, and related rough‑in components within concrete decks and structural slab systems prior to concrete pours. This role works closely with forming, rebar, and concrete crews to ensure all electrical systems are accurately placed, securely fastened, compliant with code, and ready for inspection before concrete placement.

Responsibilities

  • Install electrical conduit (PVC, EMT, rigid as required) within concrete decks, slabs, beams, and other structural building elements.
  • Lay out, mount, and securely fasten electrical boxes, embeds, sleeves, and stub‑ups prior to concrete placement.
  • Perform electrical rough‑in work and conduit placement in accordance with construction drawings and project requirements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, deck layouts, and electrical plans to ensure proper depth, spacing, and routing of all electrical components.
  • Coordinate closely with concrete, formwork, and rebar crews to maintain the project schedule and avoid conflicts before concrete pours.
  • Ensure all conduit and boxes are properly tied, secured, capped, and protected for concrete placement.
  • Verify that all installations meet National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements and project specifications prior to inspection.
  • Assist with corrections, inspections, and punch‑list items related to rough‑in work.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
  • Follow all jobsite safety procedures and comply with applicable safety regulations.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum OSHA 10 safety certification.
  • At least 2+ years of hands‑on electrical experience with concrete deck or structural slab rough‑in.
  • Strong understanding of electrical rough‑in practices for concrete construction.
  • Proven experience installing conduit and box layouts prior to concrete pours.
  • Ability to read and follow electrical drawings, deck plans, and layout marks accurately.
  • Ability to work comfortably outdoors, at heights, and in physically demanding conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail, with an understanding that errors at the rough‑in stage significantly impact the finished product.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience on commercial high‑rise, multifamily, parking garage, or industrial concrete projects.
  • Familiarity with embeds, sleeves, pour breaks, and deck penetrations.
  • Knowledge of NEC requirements specific to concrete‑encased installations.
  • Apprentice card, electrical license, or formal electrical training, where applicable.

Work Environment

This is a field‑based role in active construction environments, working primarily on concrete decks and structural slabs. The schedule typically consists of 5 to 6 days per week with approximately 10‑hour shifts. Work is performed outdoors and at heights, often in physically demanding conditions that require regular lifting, bending, and movement around formwork and rebar. Safety practices are a core priority, and all work follows strict jobsite safety procedures.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
