Electrical Engineer II – Sugar Land, TX


Our partner is experiencing continued growth and is seeking an Electrical Engineer II with strong expertise in hardware electronic design and development. This individual will play a key role in supporting advanced projects within the aerospace and defense space, with a focus on high-speed PCB design and EMI/power military specifications.


About the Role

The Electrical Engineer II will be responsible for the full lifecycle of electrical subsystem development, including research, design, development, documentation, testing, and production support. This position functions as an individual contributor within the Electrical Engineering team and supports products used in computers, test equipment, fixtures, displays, and peripherals.

Key Responsibilities



Design Engineering

  • Design high-speed printed circuit boards (PCBs), cables, and interconnects
  • Develop DC-DC power management solutions
  • Model and simulate circuits using LTspice and Altium Power/Signal Analyzer
  • Create system interconnect and wiring diagrams
  • Design test fixtures and develop test plans
  • Support system prototyping, board bring-up, and testing
  • Participate in design reviews (preliminary through final)
  • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles
  • Conduct EMI/EMC pre-compliance testing and support certification efforts


Documentation & Support

  • Develop build, assembly, and reference documentation for PCBs and systems
  • Create Interface Control Documents (ICDs), test plans, and programming instructions
  • Maintain documentation within internal document management systems
  • Support engineering change processes and documentation updates
  • Assist in product specification development
  • Address engineering support requests, including manufacturing issues, component lifecycle concerns, and customer escalations
  • Provide sustaining engineering support for existing products and product line


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience designing electrical subsystems for computing or similar systems
  • Experience with high-speed digital interfaces (PCIe, USB 3.0, DisplayPort, DVI, Ethernet)
  • Experience with low-speed interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, USB 2.0, CAN)
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards (MIL-STD, DO-160, ATX, COM Express, etc.)
  • Proficiency with electrical CAD tools (Altium preferred)
  • Experience with PCB layout, including high-speed design, impedance control, and differential routing
  • Knowledge of system-level design (thermal management, power budgeting, interconnects)
  • Basic embedded firmware experience (C or C++)
  • Hands-on experience with system build, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • Experience with military or ruggedized computing systems
  • FPGA design experience (VHDL or Verilog)
  • Experience with full system configuration and testing (CPU, GPU, BIOS, drivers, Windows/Linux)
