Engineering Partners (EPI) is a well-known engineering company in San Diego with utility, municipality, and government contracts focusing on electrical and power engineering.
We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with a BSEE degree or equivalent and have 4+ years of recent relevant experience.
Duties and responsibilities of an Electrical Engineer
- Responsible for managing and leading power distribution projects accomplishing project tasks on schedule, code compliant, and with high quality through project completion.
- Act as the representative of the firm in all matters related to the client, consultants and all parties addressing the firm concerning the project, as well as managing subcontractors if required by the project.
- Planning, report preparation, design, economic analysis and construction management which includes the preparation of plans, specifications, cost estimates, studies, reports, Supervision Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), and supporting contractors during construction responding to RFIs, equipment submittals, and field modifications.
- Development of innovative electrical design concepts, detailed electrical system design including power distribution, communication, controls, instrumentation, lighting, security systems, fire alarm, and data communication.
- Projects include low voltage and medium voltage distribution designs, overhead to underground conversion projects, PV designs, generators, pump stations, EV Chargers, switching stations, battery energy storage systems, and microgrid systems.
- Perform design calculations for load analysis, short circuit, coordination study, arc flash analysis, voltage drop, grounding, and lighting.
- Review and approval of electrical shop drawings and product data.
- Review and respond to contractor requests for information (RFIs).
- Conduct field surveys, site inspections and develop punch lists.
- Have a working knowledge of Code (NEC/CEC), NFPA, and Energy Standards (Title 24/LEED).
Qualifications of an Electrical Engineer
- BS Electrical Engineering – required.
- Professional Electrical Engineer – California – preferred.
- Minimum 4 plus years working for a MEP firm required.
- Project experience should include electrical repair projects, new construction, rehabilitation, and installation of electrical utilities, medium/ low voltage power distribution, motor protection. industrial/process controls, coordination studies, and short circuit analysis.
- Competent use of Engineering Software Applications: AutoCAD , Bluebeam (Revu), SKM Power Tools, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Lighting Software.
- Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot as the need arises
- Ability to read floor plans, sections and elevations, risers, details, schedules and specifications.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident status required.
- EIT exam or FE exam is required to be passed within the probation period (90 days).
Salary Range of an Electrical Engineer
· $90,000 - $120,000+/annual salary, commensurate with experience
