Electrical Designer - Semiconductor Megaproject - Phoenix, AZ

As an Electrical Designer, you will be responsible for developing detailed electrical design drawings and technical documentation for power distribution systems. Your expertise will encompass switchgear lineups, lighting layouts, grounding, and lightning protection systems. You will determine conduit, conductor, and wire sizing, ensuring they meet current loads and environmental variables. Additionally, you will assess cable tray fills to ensure proper cable management, perform short circuit calculations, and conduct voltage drop calculations to guarantee system stability and compliance with industry standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to continue developing their career through one of the most historic construction projects to be built in the United States. This person will sit onsite on the North side of Phoenix, AZ, while gaining competitive industry experience. There are multiple years of work planned out for just this particular project, with additional workload behind it.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed electrical design drawings and technical documentation for power distribution systems.
  • Determine conduit, conductor, and wire sizing, accounting for current loads and environmental variables.
  • Assess cable tray fills for proper cable management and future scalability.
  • Perform short circuit calculations to determine fault currents and select protective devices.
  • Conduct voltage drop calculations to ensure electrical system stability.
  • Ensure electrical designs adhere to local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.
  • Apply established electrical design techniques, such as load flow analysis and fault current calculations.
  • Collaborate with other designers, senior engineers, project managers, and stakeholders on assigned objectives.
  • Foster communication and support within multidisciplinary teams to optimize efficiency and resource management.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum education of completed GED
  • 2+ years of Electrical Design experience with proficiency in AutoCAD
  • 1+ years of experience working on Industrial Projects - Data Centers, Semiconductor, Tool Install, Healthcare, Oil & Gas
  • Ability to produce Power Distribution Schematics, Panel Schedules, Lighting, and Grounding Plans
  • Proficient in interpreting Electrical One-Line Diagrams and creating Construction Documents

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Preferred but Not Required - 5+ years of Electrical Design experience
  • Preferred but Not Required - Proficiency in Revit, ETAP, or EasyPower
  • Preferred but Not Required - Experience with Semiconductor or Tool Install projects
  • Preferred but Not Required - Associates degree or equivalent in Engineering or Architecture

Work Environment

This role requires you to work 5 days on-site with a start time between 6AM to 7AM, offering flexibility. You will work 40 to 50 hours per week, with eligibility for overtime. The team reports to the Section Manager and consists of about 50 employees on-site. This is a massive megaproject location, with multiple other companies and contractors onsite. This site also has ongoing construction for multiple facilities.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $48.00/hr.
