Job Title: Electrical Designer

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Electrical Designer responsible for performing electrical design duties on assigned projects. The role includes power distribution, machine control design, and instrument and control design. You will work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Clients to develop and execute safe, compliant, effective, and cost-efficient solutions. You will understand company and client standards and develop electrical power, controls, and instrumentation integration concepts through to final project documentation requirements. Additionally, you will develop construction cost estimates, create materials lists, and obtain quotations for design components.

Responsibilities

  • Develop working relationships with Project Managers, Engineers, and Clients.
  • Assist Engineers and Project Managers in developing schedules, specifications, and design concepts.
  • Perform fieldwork and technical research.
  • Understand field construction phases and support constructability reviews.
  • Maintain project design files, including supplemental vendor documentation and calculation sheets.
  • Certify accuracy and completeness of all deliverable products.
  • Collaborate with Engineers and Project Managers to allocate tasks within department resources.
  • Maintain budget and schedule tracking on multiple concurrent assigned design activities.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in electrical engineering and design.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and AutoCAD electrical software.
  • Knowledge of heavy industrial construction and field.
  • Ability to read power and motor control circuits.
  • Experience in power, controls, and instrumentation design.
  • Experience performing fieldwork for locating and identifying electrical components and equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a relevant field or applicable certifications preferred.
  • 3D CAD experience preferred.
  • Experience with Bentley MicroStation design software.
  • Experience in an industrial chemical processing environment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of grounding requirements and practical applications for instrumentation and electrical equipment.
  • Working knowledge of hazardous areas, including Class I and Class II locations.
  • Experience in project construction and design-hours cost estimating.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Midlothian, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52.00 - $55.30/hr.
