Job Title: Electrical Assembler

Job Description

This role focuses on assembling, installing, and testing electrical and hydraulic systems on truck bodies and related equipment in a fast-paced production environment. You will work with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components, follow detailed blueprints and schematics, and help ensure each unit meets customer specifications and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components for cranes, diggers, booms, and trucks according to specifications and work instructions.
  • Build, install, and test hydraulic components and systems, including performing complex mechanical assembly work.
  • Conduct hydraulic functional testing to verify product quality and conformance to customer requirements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, diagrams, specifications, work orders, and reports to determine materials requirements and assembly instructions.
  • Install electrical wiring systems and components on the mid section and tail end of truck bodies.
  • Install lights, strobe lights, backup alarms, trailer plugs, backup cameras, and related electrical components on trucks.
  • Assemble electrical or electronic systems and support structures and install components, units, subassemblies, wiring, and assembly casings using rivets, bolts, and appropriate tools.
  • Use jigs and fixtures, hydraulic test equipment, precision measuring instruments, power tools, and manual hand tools to complete assembly tasks.
  • Inspect, operate, and test finished products to ensure they meet customer expectations and performance standards.
  • Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions and wiring problems and apply critical thinking to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Clean parts using cleaning solutions, air hoses, and cloths to maintain product quality and a safe work area.
  • Inspect and test equipment for trucks at the test pad before they are sent to the customer, including booms, hydraulic lifts, electronics, and lights.
  • Inspect all components of the product to ensure they operate according to customer specifications.
  • Complete required paperwork, checklists, and detailed notes regarding defects, issues, and test results.
  • Follow all safety regulations, maintain a clean and orderly work area, and wear appropriate safety attire and steel-toe footwear.
  • Participate in required orientation and training, including initial training on first shift regardless of assigned shift.
  • Support production goals in a performance-driven environment, including working required overtime and frequent Saturday shifts as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Demonstrated experience with electrical assembly, including wiring and installation of electrical components.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Basic understanding of hydraulic principles and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to perform complex mechanical assembly and hydraulic functional testing.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematic drawings, diagrams, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, jigs, fixtures, hydraulic test equipment, precision measuring instruments, and manual tools safely and effectively.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical malfunctions and wiring problems using logical, critical thinking.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, performance-driven production setting.
  • Ability to read tape measures and other basic measuring tools accurately.
  • Basic computer usage skills for accessing work instructions, reports, and documentation.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend work instructions, safety information, and production documentation.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Willingness and ability to work required overtime and frequent Saturday shifts.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including steel-toe footwear.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Vocational training in electrical, mechanical, or industrial technology is desired.
  • Experience in production assembly, assembly line work, or machine operation.
  • Background in hydraulic assembly, electrical assembly, or mechanical repair is beneficial.
  • Experience operating machinery and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to maintain detailed notes and complete checklists and paperwork accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team-oriented environment.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing and production environment that is not climate controlled, so temperatures can vary with the seasons. The setting is fast paced and performance driven, with a strong focus on meeting production goals and customer quality standards. Work is hands-on and involves frequent use of hand tools, power tools, hydraulic test equipment, precision measuring instruments, and other production machinery. Multiple shifts are available: first shift typically runs from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., second shift from 3:15 p.m. to 11:45 p.m., and third shift from 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. All new hires must attend orientation on the first two days from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and training initially takes place on first shift regardless of the assigned shift. Overtime is common, and team members are likely to work three out of four Saturdays each month, with additional hours scheduled before or after regular shifts depending on shift and plant assignment. The dress code typically includes plain-colored T-shirts (preferably blue or grey), jeans, and steel-toe footwear, along with any additional required safety gear. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to established procedures to ensure high-quality, reliable products.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of DALEVILLE, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.30 - $21.80/hr.
