Election Specialist I - $45,972.16 - $64,361.02

This role is an entry-level position in Elections. This position may assist in recruiting and maintaining temporary election workers, ballot processing areas including Agilis, Signature Verification, Ballot Prep and Health Care Facility (HCF) program and VSPC. Assists with Data entry including registering voters, updating voter records, performing voter record maintenance, and providing information regarding voting and voter registration. This position requires attention to detail, a professional demeanor, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Election Specialist II - $55,166.69- $77,233.37
This is a mid-level position that consistently meets or exceeds the expectations of an Election Specialist I. This position will demonstrate attention to detail, a professional demeanor, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Providing information regarding voting and voter registration through phone and digital communication. Assists in voter merge, processing notices, mail, answering the phone, online communication as well as election-specific tasks surrounding UOCAVA and Health Care Facilities. Has the ability to use reference materials such as Title 1 or SOS rule to obtain information and properly apply that information.


Election Specialist I
  • May assist with all aspects of the ballot processing programs.
  • May assist with the Heath Care Facilities program.
  • May assist with Voter Service and Polling Centers
  • Ability to acquire and maintain technical working knowledge of relevant federal and state laws, Secretary of State rules, regulations, policies, standards, and/or procedures.
  • Registers eligible voters in Adams County
  • Processes mail, voter correspondence, notices, and voter registration forms
  • Provides program support to manager in assigned area
  • Cross-trains on additional processes and technology to provide redundancy support for additional roles
  • Assists with office related tasks as necessary or as instructed.
  • Maintain positive professional relationships with vendors and business partners.
  • Maintains basic level of training, certification, and education relating to election administration.
  • Provides assistance in other areas of the Clerk and Recorder's Office as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Election Specialist II
  • Registers eligible voters in Adams County
  • Processing mail, voter correspondence, notices, and voter registration forms
  • Completes monthly list maintenance
  • Maintain confidentiality of personally identifiable information within protected documents per Colorado statute
  • Utilizes knowledge of election regulations and procedures or refers to statutes in order to disseminate information.May interpret broad policies to fit specific problems.
  • Provideoutstanding customer service in person, over the phone, and online communication
  • Creates, revises, and maintains standard operating procedures
  • Provides program support to manager in assigned area.
  • Assists in the training of new Election Specialist I and temporary staff.
  • Complete secretary of state required training. Assist with voter merge.
  • Responsible for processing and maintaining UOCAVA registrations.
  • Assist with Health Care Facility program.
  • Provides assistance in other areas of the Clerk and Recorder's Office as needed
  • Cross-trains on additional processes and technology to provide redundancy support for additional roles

Election Specialist I
  • General knowledge of election administration processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of data entry and ability to accurately meet data entry standards
  • Basic computer skills, including Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Ability to easily adapt to changing work environment
  • Ability to become a Colorado Certified Election Official through the Secretary of State’s office within one (1) year and fulfill continuing education requirements to maintain Colorado Election Official Certification
  • Ability to learn SCORE and understand additional technology that assists in the election process
  • Demonstrates professionalism in handling angry or upset individuals on the telephone, in person, or through digital communication
  • Ability to perform strenuous work such as loading, unloading, and lifting heavy objects.
  • Ability to preparea variety of routine correspondence, forms, and reports.
  • Ability to work extended hours, as needed, during election cycles. Position will require greater than 40 hours/week during election cycles.

Election Specialist I
  • Experience:
    • One (1) year of job experience that includes general clerical work and customer service is required
    • Experience in data entry and computer operations is preferred, but not required

  • Education and Training: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • License or Certificate:
    • Ability to become deputized.
    • Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver's License, state mandated auto insurance, and own transportation are required.
  • Background Check: Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Other:Must be registered to vote in Colorado.
Election Specialist II
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Election Specialist I or with election processes.
    • Minimum of two (2) year of job experience that includes general clerical work and customer serviceis required.
  • License or Certificate:
    • Ability to become deputized
    • Reliable transportation required
    • Must be a Colorado Certified Election Official or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire.
    • Voter Registration: Must be registered to vote in Colorado
  • Background Check:Must pass a criminal background check annually. An MVR background check will be run before hiring in the event that you may have to drive a county vehicle.
  • Special Requirements Essential duties require the following physical abilities and work environment:

    • Ability to stoop, stand, sit for extended periods, and reach overhead and push, pull or handle objects weighing 25 pounds or less.
    • Work is performed primarily in an office environment.
    • Work atmosphere may be noisy and hectic due to contact with general public in person and on the telephone.
