Job Title: EH&S Technician (Field-Based)
Location: Plaquemine, LA (Onsite)
Duration: 12 Months (High possibility of extension)
Pay Rate - $26/hour on W2
Job Overview:
We are seeking an EH&S Technician to provide onsite Environmental Health & Safety support at a leading chemical manufacturing facility. This is a highly field-based role focused on worker safety, OSHA/EPA compliance, and active engagement with frontline teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide extensive field coverage (80–99%) to monitor and promote worker safety
- Conduct safety observations and engage directly with crews on safe work practices
- Support OSHA and EPA compliance initiatives
- Communicate safety expectations clearly to site personnel
- Partner with EH&S team members to ensure consistent safety coverage
- Identify and escalate safety concerns as needed
- Support routine maintenance activities and turnaround events
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (critical for success)
- Basic understanding of workplace safety principles
- Ability to confidently engage with field personnel and influence safe behaviors
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, industrial field environment
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
Preferred Experience:
- Prior field safety experience in:
- Chemical / Petrochemical industry (highly preferred)
- Construction or industrial environments
- Experience interacting with large crews and frontline workers
Work Environment:
- 100% onsite role at a chemical plant
- Requires working in field conditions with PPE
- Involves interaction with large teams (150–200 workers daily)
- May include weekend work and turnaround support
