Position Title: Educational Consultant


Location: Montgomery, AL (In-Person)


About the Role

Read Write Learning Center is seeking an Educational Consultant to serve as a

trusted guide for families navigating their child’s learning challenges.

This role is ideal for a professional who combines deep empathy, clear

communication, and expert understanding of literacy & learning. We seek someone

who can both help parents feel understood and lead them toward meaningful action.

The Educational Consultant conducts parent consultations, evaluates students, and

helps families understand learning difficulties (such as dyslexia) in a clear, practical

way. This individual plays a key role in helping families make informed decisions

about enrolling in our programs.

This is not a high-pressure sales role. It is a relationship-driven, consultative position

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct parent consultations to understand each child’s learning challenges
  • Administer norm-referenced testing batteries to uncover the root causes of

each child's learning difficulties

  • Complete in depth written reports
  • Clearly explain testing results and learning profiles in a parent-friendly way
  • Provide practical, actionable recommendations for home and school
  • Guide families toward appropriate services, including enrollment in Read Write

programs

  • Build trust and rapport with families while confidently leading the conversation
  • Collaborate with branch staff to ensure a smooth onboarding experience for

new students

  • Represent Read Write Learning Center in the community


Additional Responsibilities

  • Teach our one-on-one academic therapy curriculum
  • Serve as active member of our Branch Leadership Team

  • Comfortable discussing sensitive topics (learning struggles, family dynamics,

etc.)

  • Able to run consultations independently
  • Takes responsibility for outcomes
  • Organized and able to juggle multiple potential new students at one time

  • Big-picture thinker who can connect dots for families
  • Not overly technical or bogged down in details
  • Can translate data into meaningful insights


Qualifications

  • Background in education, psychology, speech-language pathology,

counseling, or a related field

  • Experience with educational testing, reading intervention, and/or learning

disabilities highly preferred

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Experience working with parents and children preferred

Certifications such as Reading Specialist, SLP , Psychometrist, Psychologist, or

Licensed Counselor are highly valued.


Work Hours

  • Up to 40 hours per week (in-person)


Approximately:

  • 50% consultations & testing
  • 50% one-on-one instruction
  • Flexible work schedule based on candidate preferences


Compensation

  • $55,000 – $65,000 annually with hourly rate: $29.26 – $34.50
  • Based on 40 hours/week, 47 weeks/year - Read Write is closed 5 weeks per

week for holidays
