Role: Education Director
Location: Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Long Island City, Queens
Salary Range: $80,000-$85,000 /year
Reports to: Head of School
Schedule: 8:00 am - 6:00 pm (this role is year-round)
About us:
New York Preschool & Kids Club is an early childhood education and enrichment program serving modern New York families through our combination of enrichment classes and preschool education. With multiple schools across New York City, NYPKC blends a research-backed, play-based curriculum with a fun and supportive environment, delivering a full family experience for children and parents.
About the Role
The Education Director is a high-impact leadership role designed for an experienced administrator and pedagogue who works hand-in-hand with the Head of School to ensure the highest standards of educational and operational excellence. Unlike a teaching role, this position focuses entirely on school-wide leadership, faculty development, and operational oversight. You will be the primary guardian of our curriculum, providing the formal mentorship, training, and strategic oversight necessary to elevate instructional standards across the location and ensure every classroom and child thrives.
What You’ll Do
- The Pedagogical Architect: Oversee the implementation of the Creative Curriculum or the Tools of the Mind Curriculum across all classrooms, ensuring play-based instruction is executed with fidelity and serves as the gold standard for early childhood education.
- The Instructional Leader: Drive school-wide excellence by conducting regular teacher observations, delivering formal feedback, and facilitating professional development. You are the "teacher of teachers," responsible for onboarding new hires and elevating the craft of veteran staff.
- The Operational Partner: Collaborate with the Head of School to oversee daily location logistics. You will manage staffing schedules, ensure strict NYC regulatory (DOH) compliance, and maintain organizational efficiency.
- The Culture Anchor: Cultivate a professional culture of accountability, emotional intelligence, and continuous improvement. You will maintain a "safe-to-fail" environment for students while setting high-performance expectations for the faculty.
- The Strategic Family Partner: Act as a primary leadership point of contact for families, building high-level trust through transparent communication and bridging the gap between classroom milestones and what’s happening at home.
The statements in this job description are intended to describe the essential nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be all responsibilities or qualifications of the job.

What Success Looks Like
- Every classroom in the building reflects a high-level execution of our curriculum, and students consistently meet or exceed developmental benchmarks and love coming to our programs.
