Distribution Mechanic I, II or III (Gas Operations)

The salary range shown represents the minimum to midpoint salary for this position. The actual salary offered will depend on qualifications and experience.

Advanced semi-skilled, moderate or advanced technical work in the cathodic protection, construction maintenance and repair of mains and service of the natural gas distribution system. Work of Mechanic I & II performed under the direct supervision of Mechanic III and is checked by observation and conformance to standard practices. Mechanic II performs multi-functional tasks with regards to all phases of the gas operations department; this is not a single task position. Mechanic III may perform lead work requiring immediate responsibility for a small group of employees engaged in semi-skilled or unskilled labor. May be delegated complete authority and responsibility for a designated period of time. Work performed by Mechanic III requires considerable judgment and knowledge and is under supervision of the Gas Distribution Foreman.

• Total completion of the Midwest Energy Association (MEA) Operator Qualification Program and testing with a test score of no less than 80% with no missed critical questions.
• Completion of the MEA Qualified for One - Qualified for All training program testing, with a test score of no less then 80% and hands-on performance review on tasks that directly relate to the GDM I position.
• Successful performance review by the Operator Qualification Evaluation Team of tasks related to a GDM I position.
• After initial qualification periodic re-qualification may be needed if significant changes affect covered task or the covered task(s) re-qualify date has expired.
