Caturus, LLC, is an integrated natural gas and LNG company focused on responsible sourcing of low-emission fuel to domestic and international markets. Commonwealth LNG is developing a 9.5 Mtpa liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal project located near Cameron, Louisiana and is seeking a Director, Technical Training to join our team.


Reporting to the Vice President, Operations, the Director, Technical Training is responsible for establishing and leading the technical training function to ensure a competent, qualified, and high-performing workforce capable of safely and reliably operating the LNG terminal. This role ensures training programs align with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and corporate expectations, while building a sustainable competency framework that supports long-term operational excellence and continuous workforce development. The position is site-based in Cameron, Louisiana.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead enterprise technical training strategy aligned with operational readiness and enterprise performance objectives.
  • Develop structured OJT, competency, and qualification frameworks supporting 24/7 LNG operations.
  • Conduct training needs analyses across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, HSSE, and support functions.
  • Design technical and leadership programs enabling safe, reliable, high-performance plant operations.
  • Integrate Management of Change (MOC) requirements into training and qualification processes.
  • Align training with Work Management systems, including CMMS, planning, and scheduling practices.
  • Ensure compliance with LNG regulations, process safety standards, and corporate governance requirements.
  • Maintain training content reflecting plant modifications, procedure revisions, and regulatory updates.
  • Establish KPIs to measure workforce competency, readiness, and performance improvement outcomes.
  • Oversee integrated training plans, schedules, logistics, and workforce readiness reporting.
  • Provide coaching and performance development to build resilient operational leadership capability.
  • Advise cross-functional stakeholders on training impacts of design, procedural, and system changes.
  • Support VP of Operations in developing a sustainable, high-performing operations organization.
  • Uphold professional standards while executing additional duties supporting operational excellence.


Qualifications:

Education, Certificates, and Licenses:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline;

Experience:

  • 10+ years of technical training within the oil and gas industry required.
  • LNG experience is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Deep technical knowledge of LNG liquefaction processes, cryogenic systems, terminal operations, and supporting equipment essential for safe and reliable production.
  • Demonstrated expertise designing and leading enterprise technical training and competency development programs within complex industrial or energy operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing LNG facilities, including FERC, PHMSA, OSHA, NFPA, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Proven leadership capability to build, develop, and sustain high-performing technical teams supporting safe, reliable 24/7 plant operations.
  • Advanced ability to design and administer competency assessments, qualification programs, and certification frameworks supporting workforce capability and operational excellence.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness managing cross-functional initiatives and collaborating with engineering, operations, maintenance, HSSE, and project development organizations.
  • Ability to influence and align stakeholders across development, EPC, legal, regulatory, and commercial functions to support organizational objectives.
  • Strong analytical capability to measure training effectiveness using performance metrics, workforce competency data, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective engagement with executive leadership, regulators, external partners, and operational teams.
  • High degree of organizational discipline and professional judgment, with the ability to lead complex training programs with minimal supervision.
  • Strong planning and program management skills supporting training schedules, resource allocation, and long-term workforce development strategies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and enterprise learning management platforms supporting training documentation, reporting, and program administration.
  • This position oversees a multidisciplinary training organization supported by managers, supervisors, technical trainers and subject matter experts, training coordinators, and learning management system administrators who support technical training delivery, competency management, and program administration.
