Summary

Responsible for providing enterprise wide leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for the physical protection of the people and assets of SRP. This role focuses on creating a safe, crime-free workplace, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with organizational risk management objectives. The role leads multi-disciplinary teams, manages budgets and capital programs, and serves as a key advisor to executive leadership on physical security risk, mitigation, preparedness, and response.

What You'll Do
  • Provide strategic leadership and long‑term vision for Security Services, including Security Operations, Investigations, Security Systems (access control, alarms, CCTV, etc.), and Business Continuity & Emergency Management.
  • Establish, implement, and continuously improve security policies, standards, and procedures to protect SRP employees, contractors, visitors, and assets.
  • Direct day‑to‑day security operations and incident response, threat management, and coordination with law enforcement and external security partners.
  • Lead and develop the security services leadership team, including workforce planning, performance management, succession planning, and employee engagement.
  • Develop and manage operating and capital budgets; ensure cost‑effective use of resources while maintaining high levels of security readiness and delivery.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (Cyber Security, Human Resources, Legal, Facilities, and others) to integrate security considerations into enterprise initiatives, projects, and facility designs.
  • Oversee the Insider Threat program.
  • Direct the use of appropriate target hardening techniques, i.e., physical barriers, fences, walls, etc.
  • Lead security technology strategy, performance, and reliability, including access control, alarms, and camera systems, ensuring scalability and alignment with organizational needs.
  • Serves as a liaison to federal, state, and local agencies (Department of Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Reclamation Security, State and Local Law Enforcement, and others).
  • Provide executive‑level reporting of security risk assessments, and recommendations related to security posture, emerging threats, and mitigation strategies.
  • Chair SRP’s Crisis Management Team (CMT).
Education A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.Experience Minimum 10 years of relevant experience required. In lieu of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 14 years may be considered.Additional Requirements and Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of physical security operations, investigations, emergency management, and threat assessment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in making strategic and operational decisions impacting enterprise security posture, risk mitigation, and resource allocation.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and organizational change management skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in high‑pressure and high‑visibility situations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and advise senior leadership.
  • Progressive leadership experience in law enforcement, military, federal protective services, or corporate security, including responsibility for physical security operations, investigations, and incident command.
  • Experience protecting critical infrastructure within a regulated or utility environment, strongly preferred.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
