Position Overview


The Director of Technology combines the software and technology strategy and leadership as well as a strong focus on data and analytics, working to help support the Foundation and ensure that staff have the tools and insights that will enable them to support the Foundation’s mission and goals into the future. This role is also the liaison between SBF and its technology vendors, bringing IT, IS, custom web application and Salesforce CRM projects forward and to successful execution. This role must document and make sure communication is clear between all stakeholders and vendors to ensure all projects move forward accurately and efficiently.


Primary Responsibilities


Information Technology Team Leadership

  • Understands and connects with the St. Baldrick's mission, and strives to embody our core values (Mission-driven, Accountable, Continuously improving, Aligned, Transparent, Fun)
  • Organizes the Information Technology team and establishes clear objectives/goals, KPIs, roles and responsibilities; ensures coordination of shared resources, common activities, and other dependencies across projects
  • Leads, oversees and improves the project initiation and management processes for the Information Technology team
  • Partners with and successfully collaborates with internal and external teams to understand the organization and its goals in order to determine potential project impact and tailor plans and deliverables accordingly
  • Builds strong relationships and trust with stakeholders, keeping them and their teams informed, engaged and aligned with technology initiatives
  • Promotes project management best practices and informs others of PM processes and tools across teams, as needed


Custom Web Application and Mobile Application

Data and Analytics

  • Oversees the Business Intelligence Analyst who manages the Foundation’s reporting and analytics platforms
  • Leads the Foundation’s business analytics by supervising marketing and engagement data collection, implementing data analysis and communicates outcomes


Salesforce Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) and Marketing Cloud

  • Oversees the Integrated Marketing & CRM Project Manager who manages the administration of the Salesforce CRM and Marketing Cloud platforms
  • Facilitates the development of the CRM roadmap and implements CRM priorities, processes, features, and functionalities by working closely with the Strategic Director of External Relations, cross-functional teams and executive leadership
  • Maintains business relationship with the CRM related vendors, including managing the budget process in this area


Information Technology and Information Security

  • Oversees the IT/IS Manager and vendors who manages technologies and information security of the Foundation, like SaaS (software-as-a-service), servers, workstations, etc.
  • Advises the COO on information security issues alongside the Information Steering Committee which includes the IT/IS Manager and managed IT and IS vendors
  • Oversees and maintains business relationship with the IT and IS vendors, including managing the budget process in this area
  • Directs SaaS technology solutions for the Foundation
  • Serves as on-site back-up in case of desktop support technological emergencies


Other

  • Researches and presents on new technologies, best practices, industry trends, and consumer insights and their potential use and benefits for SBF
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or professional equivalent preferred
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience leading Information Technology teams and functions.
  • Proven leadership skills with strong management and coaching abilities
  • Solid understanding of IT/IS security
  • Ability to oversee projects in an agile, waterfall or hybrid environment spanning web development and systems integration
  • Adaptable self-starter who is skilled at creating structure and communicating clarity in a dynamic environment
  • Able to serve as a liaison between business and technical teams to drive effective, timely solutions that fulfill both strategic and operational needs within budget
  • Able to effectively communicate and collaborate with others and build relationships at all levels, both within the team and with stakeholders and executive management
  • Understanding of basic website development and key user actions that can be counted in an analytics system
  • Knowledge of CSS, CMS, Adobe creative suite preferred
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems, network infrastructure, and information security
  • Previous experience with Salesforce or another similar enterprise-level CRM preferred
  • Previous experience with Payment Card Industry (PCI) Compliance preferred
  • Experience with Google Analytics,, Trello or similar project management software preferred
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Sound judgment, thoughtfulness, attention to detail; the ability to think strategically and solve problems, and strong work ethic
  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership ability when communicating with individuals and groups.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to thrive in an evolving hybrid work environment
  • Ability to work both nights and weekends may be required


Physical Abilities Required

  • Lifting ability: Light, under 25 lbs. on a occasional basis.
  • Ability to work at a desk on a computer and phone most of the day for periods of up to 2-4 hours at a time.
