Director of Operations — EcoFleet Industries, Inc.
Location: Los Angeles Area (near Burbank, CA) — with regular travel across EcoFleet's footprint
Company Description
EcoFleet Industries is a turn-key commercial fleet services company delivering maintenance, operations, ownership, and detailing solutions to transit operators, shuttle providers, and alternative-fuel fleet customers across the country. Founded in 2021 and headquartered in San Diego, EcoFleet has grown rapidly to eight locations spanning Seattle, Portland, the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Dallas, and Houston/Galveston—supporting ICE, EV, and alternative-fuel vehicles with a mobile-first technician workforce.
The Opportunity
We're not looking for a caretaker. We're looking for an operator who wants to help scale EcoFleet from ~60 team members today to 10x that over the coming years. The Director of Operations will be the backbone of that growth—standardizing how we run shops and mobile service across regions, building the playbooks that let us open new markets predictably, and driving the financial and service-level performance that earns us the next customer and the one after that.
What You'll Own
- Multi-site operations. Oversee day-to-day service delivery across all EcoFleet locations, driving consistency in workflows, safety, quality, and turnaround times.
- Scale infrastructure. Build the repeatable location-launch playbook—facilities, tooling, staffing, parts, vendor relationships, and fleet management software rollout (Samsara, Fleetio, RTA, and similar)—so new markets come online faster and cleaner each time.
- Team leadership. Lead regional managers and lead technicians, recruit senior talent, and build a culture of accountability and craftsmanship across a distributed mobile workforce.
- Financial performance. Own operational P&L, labor utilization, parts margin, and capex planning. Partner with the COO and CEO on budgeting, forecasting, and pricing.
- Customer outcomes. Serve as a senior escalation point for key customers, ensuring SLAs are met and relationships deepen over time.
- Data and decisions. Stand up the KPIs, dashboards, and cadences that turn field activity into clear operating signals for leadership.
What We're Looking For
- Hands-on experience running commercial fleet service operations, heavy-duty vehicle maintenance, transit/shuttle operations, or alternative-fuel (EV, CNG, propane, hydrogen) infrastructure and service.
- A track record of scaling a services or operations business through rapid growth—ideally multi-site expansion and a meaningful step-change in headcount and revenue.
- Strong operational fundamentals: process design, labor planning, parts and inventory, safety and compliance (DOT, OSHA, state-specific requirements).
- Financial literacy—comfortable owning a budget, reading a P&L, and making trade-offs grounded in unit economics.
- Proven ability to lead distributed automotive service teams with empathy and high standards.
- Strong analytical instincts and fluency with fleet management and business systems.
- Excellent communication skills and the judgment to represent EcoFleet directly with enterprise customers.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent operating experience carries equal weight.
- Willingness to travel regularly across EcoFleet's locations.
Why EcoFleet
You'll work directly with the CEO and COO on the decisions that shape the next phase of the company. If you're energized by building—by turning a fast-growing services business into a national platform—this is the opportunity.
