Position Overview

The Director of Manufacturing will lead Pepper’s end-to-end manufacturing and sourcing strategy, owning vendor partnerships, cost structure, and supply chain execution. Reporting directly to the COO, they will build a scalable and capital-efficient production infrastructure to support growth. They will manage mill and factory partners, drive cost and process optimization, and work cross-functionally to improve margins, lead times, and overall operational performance. Experience supporting product development is a plus, but not the core focus of the role.


Responsibilities

  1. Own end-to-end manufacturing and sourcing strategy, including factory and mill relationships, negotiations, and onboarding
  2. Drive cost optimization across materials, labor, and production to improve margins and working capital efficiency
  3. Develop and execute a scalable production strategy, including vendor diversification and capacity planning
  4. Lead supply chain operations, optimizing lead times, production workflows, and overall operational performance
  5. Identify and implement process, systems, and cross-functional improvements to increase efficiency, align teams, and support growth


Qualifications

  1. 7–10+ years of experience in manufacturing, sourcing, or supply chain within a consumer or DTC brand
  2. Proven experience managing factory and mill relationships, including sourcing and negotiations
  3. Strong track record of driving cost reduction and operational efficiency in a growth environment
  4. Deep understanding of production planning, lead times, capacity, and vendor strategy
  5. Highly analytical, with the ability to use data to inform operational and financial decisions
  6. Strong cross-functional operator with excellent communication skills and high ownership


Additional Details

  1. Full-time, hybrid position in NYC
  2. Hybrid schedule: 3 in-office days per week 
  3. Salary range: $150,000-$170,000 (based on experience and skillset)
