The Director of Field Operations is a senior operational leader responsible for the strategic planning, integration, and performance of RAM’s field-based clinical operations. This role oversees mid-level management across Telehealth Clinics, Standard Clinics, Denture Clinics, and Transportation & Clinical Equipment, ensuring coordinated execution, regulatory compliance, and high-quality patient care delivery. The Director of Field Operations reports directly to the COO and partners closely with Operations Directors to scale healthcare access, steward donor resources responsibly, and ensure field operations align with our mission to provide free, quality healthcare to those in need.
Job Responsibilities
Field Operations Strategy & Integration
- Translate organizational and operational strategy into coordinated field operations across telehealth, mobile clinics, denture services, and transportation.
- Ensure field operations are scalable, repeatable, and aligned with RAM’s mission to expand access to care for underserved populations.
- Balance operational demand, geographic reach, staffing, equipment availability, and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the primary integrator across field-based service lines to ensure consistency, efficiency, and quality.
Clinical Program Oversight & Delivery
- Provide senior-level oversight of Telehealth Clinics, ensuring effective deployment of mobile labs, connectivity infrastructure, and clinical workflows to deliver telehealth services to underserved communities.
- Oversee Standard Mobile Clinics nationwide, ensuring coordinated logistics, equipment transport, site readiness, and clinical operations to deliver dental, medical, and vision services.
- Oversee Denture Clinic operations, including integration with standard clinics and standalone denture lab operations in partnership with corporate sponsors.
- Ensure clinical programs meet defined access, quality, safety, and patient experience standards.
Transportation & Clinical Equipment Operations
- Provide strategic oversight of transportation and clinical equipment functions, including CDL-A driver operations, equipment logistics, and fleet utilization.
- Ensure clinical equipment is transported, maintained, sterilized, and deployed in compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements.
- Align transportation capacity with clinic schedules, geographic planning, and operational priorities.
- Partner with Supply Chain and Volunteer Operations leadership to ensure seamless field execution.
Operational Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Establish and monitor field operations performance indicators tied to clinic delivery, access metrics, equipment readiness, and operational efficiency.
- Analyze operational data to identify risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reliability, efficiency, and patient access across all field operations.
- Provide operational insights and recommendations to the COO to inform strategic planning and resource allocation.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and support mid-level managers across telehealth, standard clinics, dentures, and transportation functions.
- Establish clear expectations, accountability structures, and performance goals for field operations leadership.
- Foster a collaborative, mission-aligned culture that prioritizes safety, quality, and service excellence.
- Support leadership development and succession planning within field operations teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Director of Volunteer Operations to align volunteer staffing models with field clinic needs and schedules.
- Partner with the Director of Supply Chain Operations to ensure timely procurement, availability, and lifecycle management of clinical supplies and equipment.
- Collaborate with Finance, Development, and Communications teams to ensure operational commitments align with funding, messaging, and donor expectations.
- Serve as a key operational voice in planning discussions related to clinic expansion and innovation.
Risk Management, Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure field operations comply with all applicable healthcare regulations, safety standards, and operational policies.
- Identify and mitigate operational and clinical risks associated with mobile, telehealth, and denture service delivery.
- Support readiness for inspections, audits, and compliance reviews related to field operations.
- Escalate significant risks or capacity concerns to the COO with recommended mitigation strategies.
External Partnerships & Field Representation
- Support operational relationships with community host groups, corporate sponsors, and local partners involved in clinic delivery.
- Represent field operations in planning meetings, site assessments, and operational coordination with external stakeholders as appropriate.
- Ensure partner expectations align with RAM’s operational capabilities and quality standards.
Reporting & Decision Support
- Prepare and present field operations reports, analyses, and recommendations to the COO and senior leadership.
- Contribute data and insights to executive-level planning, budgeting, and Board reporting through the COO.
- Ensure transparency and accountability in operational performance and resource utilization.
Job Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Public Health, or a related field or equivalent experience
· Minimum of 5 years experience in operations management, preferably in nonprofit, healthcare, or humanitarian settings.
· Exceptional ability to communicate effectively and build robust relationship and networks.
· Ability to translate goals into strategic initiatives.
· Analytical, strategic mindset capable of leveraging data analysis, reporting, and software solutions
· Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
· Must be able to maintain a valid driver’s license.
